5 mistakes that kept me from improving
Just some thoughts I've been having lately, figured I'd share. In note form, because I want to keep this short and to the point.
I spend a lot of time looking back, as you know. (one of my big flaws... I'm a slave to nostalgia) I was looking through my old drawings, some as recent as last year, and I think I've improved a lot since then. Ever since I changed up my work habits I've started to see real progress in my quest for improvement. Here are the big mistakes I believe were holding me back:
5. I thought I had to be good at EVERYTHING
- Struggled with priorities
- I spread myself too thin
- Nothing wrong with dabbling in other 'stats', but I never focused on maxing one stat
- It's ok not to be good at everything. I could improve my point perspective skills but I don't have to be a master of architecture drawing
4. On the rare occasion I took my time, I gave the drawing the full-color treatment
- Not everything needs to be a masterpiece
- It means I

The World Sucks, But You Don't Have to
Long time no update on life, because, well, I'm an "adult" now. With a job and all.
But you know what? Since this is MY page and it's JUST for me, I'm going to write whatever the fantastic I want.
First, the world kind of sucks. People should be making new people feel inclusive, and probably keeping promises, etc.
(My job is on the line because my supervisor has broken the promise not once, but TWICE)
And you know what? I honestly am not worried about it anymore.
Heck, if people don't want me there (even though my position is always in-demand), I'm okay with it.
Why? Because I don't need to let me happiness depend on other people.
If they're going to not keep me, they're missing out, not me.
I, am awesome. The people who I am with every day know this.
Am I the best at my job? I got a long-ways to learn.
Are there people who can do it better and make it more fun? Absolutely!
But know what? I do my best every day, and I believe in the people I'm with.
They, are s

Journal History

If you thought this was going to be about a significant other... You don't know me very well XD

Enough joking. Today I wanted to write about heartbreak. Not the kind you get for unrequited love, but the kind I'm feeling right now. I'm heartbroken about art. It's a feeling I've felt for many years, sometimes more hurtful than others, but lately, maybe because of the huge tiredness, I'm feeling even physically.

But, Naira, come on, chest pain? That's anxiety. If you think that you're right. I suffer from anxiety, too. But the thing is, it doesn't only appear when I think about achademical topics. My chest hurts, I feel pressure and I go out of breath when I think about the inability to draw. Hypothetical or real. For several reasons, I haven't drawn in a while. And, even if it's going to sound weird coming from a scientist like me, I feel the urge to do that embed deep in my soul. And I can't ignore it so easily now that it hurts me physically.

I usually refer to drawings from my friends as "drugs". I ask them for "drugs" regularly. Because I also am an artist,  and I know how it feels to create art and how it feels when someone shows interest in yours. I genuinely enjoy admiring art, but I can't help but feeling down. I feel insecure lately about my abilities in many fields, and art is no exception. I feel somewhat inferior to those who do pursue art, not necessarily as a career, but a hobby too. Lately I'm so tired I do little things in my scarce leissure time, let alone something that requires some sort of willpower as it's overcoming an artblock, which I believe I'm suffering from.

It's not the first time I've felt this way. And I want to believe that this feeling will fade away, once I feel less tired and more confident. But I wanted to leave it written somewhere, as a reminder for the future.

This, too, shall pass.
