Both are kind-hearted individuals with a shy personality taken in by parent figures (Master Eraqus and Cocolia respectively) and reside in their new homes (Land of Departure and Cocolia's Orphanage respectively)

Both would acquire themselves some very close friends (Terra and Aqua for Ventus and Bronya Zaychik For Seele)

Both of them Both have a darker, corrupted version of themselves (Vanitas and Veliona respectively) who are physical manifestations antagonistic forces within their bodies (Darkness and Stigmata respectively)

Both also have a good friendship with people who look exactly like them (Roxas and Veliona respectively)

Both of them were tragically lost in someway (Ventus's heart resides within Sora while his body is asleep while Seele vanished into the Sea of Quanta) as a result of major events (Ventus destroyed the incomplete X-Blade and Seele was experimented on in the X-10 Experiment)

Both of their dark doppelgängers briefly took over their bodies to fight their friends (Aqua and Bronya Zaychik respectively) ending in their defeat

Both would eventually be from their trap states after years with the help of one the main heroes (Sora released Ventus's heart returned to his body allowing him to wake up while Bronya freed Seele from the Sea of Quanta)

In contrast they are opposites with their relationship with their dark doppelgängers. While Seele and Veliona have a sister type relationship as Veliona never wanted to hurt Seele and cares about her, Ventus and Vanitas remained archenemies until the end as Vanitas actually hates Ventus and actively tries to kill him
