Connections:

Both are young girls who're older than they seem (Rukia being 150+ years old as a Shinigami and Shana being immortal despite physically being 13-14 years old)

Both of them are part of an organization (Soul Society and Flame Haze Army respectively) which were created to hunts dangerous supernatural creatures (Hollow & Crimson Denizen) to keep balance between human world & spirit world.

In their past they were picked by someone who consider them as family figures and who will protect at them the costs of their lives (Byakuya Kuchiki and Wilhelmina Carmel).

During their hunting mission, they encountered main protagonist school boys (Ichigo Kurosaki & Yuji Sakai) who later gained supernatural powers, which made them decide to train them while at the same time living in the same house with them and even attending to the same school with said MCs

Both of them came from one of the most influencial series of their mediums, mangas and light novels respectively, that started in early 2000's

Both also have their own magic-type spell (Kidō and Unrestricted Spell) throughout the usage of their own energy sources (Reiryoku and Power of Existence) and they also have someone who looks like an adult version of them who's related to them (Hisana Kuchiki who is Rukia's older sister and Mathilde Saint-Omer who is Shana's predecessor)

Both were once captive during one story arc of their series where their power was turned off (The Soul Society Arc and The Biding Time Arc)

They also encountered a human being and end up being comrade with them (Orihime Inoue and Kazumi Yoshida) who are both in love with the main protagonist

Both also possess an element that contrast each other (Shana being fire and Rukia being ice/snow)
