Taken this morning ... July 11th 2005 .... Ive actually been trying to capture this shot for over a week, but my camera wasnt co-operating until now. My area has been experiencing a drought at present, and this photo captures the arid brown regions of forgotten Australian farmland, against the lush green of irrigated crops. Monto Queensland, Australia. Camera - Kodak Easyshare CX7310.

Breaking Things

The universe gets annoyed with you sometimes. Like there's this little space intern stuck in your head. Snapping a pencil over and over. Muttering stuff under their breath. "Oh, great he's doing it again." Then there's this voice you never heard before. It fogs up the mirror in your mind. Tries saying your name in a few weird ways. Like its reading off some old prescription bottle label. You are just buttering toast one morning. And the toast clears its throat. Does it dramatically on purpose. Says you're the one who has to choose. As if it's been waiting forever since the start of everything for you to get it. Your kitchen starts tilting a bit. Like someone built the set for a sitcom after watching one quick YouTube video. What is a kitchen anyway. The cabinets smell like glue mixed with this mild panic feeling. The whole world creaks around you. Held together with just tape, I guess. People begin to shimmer in a strange way. Your friends and coworkers. Even

Beauty In The Hollow

Plenty will ask you to put on a crayon-dotted paper face, To wield the brave knight's armor, shield and mace; They will say peasant behavior is the highest disgrace, But these words of mine lack any toxin or other lace. On beaches youngsters see a half-submerged shell Not as an outcast or some stubborn rodent to quell; The colors and sounds make them feel eager and well, As if random droppings of Mother Nature cast a spell. Are we not the most "out there" creations of all? Forgers of the atom bomb, artificial heart and shopping mall? Entrepreneurship makes some feel explorative and tall, But when I see you there is no "oof" from hitting a wall. No poetry can wish away the worth swirling inside, There to stay no matter what the taller ones decide; All you must do to possess it is continue to reside, And perhaps one day you can do so with sparking pride.
