Welcome to Poetic Forms, a community where people who want to learn about and write with traditional and modern poetic forms can do so together.

It was created by alenia on May 22, 2003.

New Member Administrator :iconberyc:

We are seeking leadership for this group in various areas. See below.

poetic-forms now has it's own shoutbox and forum right on DA. Check it out, use it!

:pointr:Form of the Month
The form of the month for September is the exciting and challenging palindrome.

I'd love to see a lot of activity with this form. If you wish suggestions or help in crafting your poem, there's a thread concerning this in our forum.

Please read this informative write-up… pamelaski

Please send links to your newly written palindrome poems by NOTE and they will be added to the journal.

:pointr:Welcome :new: Members

Members, we ask you put a link to us in your journal, or signature, to get the word out and show your support.

:pointr:Announcements and Information
Feel free to approach pamelaski in a note with concerns, comments, and suggestions.

Suggestions for contests or activities? Let me know!

I'm seeking Support Administration</u> in several different capacities:

Forum Administrator - Someone to keep up with the message board, posting regularly and administrating the site.

Contest Administrator - Someone to oversee the contests of Poetic Forms.

Forms Administrator - Someone to oversee the write-ups of different forms, and write up suggested forms.

Poems Administrator - Someone that will oversee the poem of the month, as well as our member listing of poetry.

:pointr:Forum & Shoutbox
Poetic Forms now has it's own shoutbox and forum, all self-contained. I know that it was difficult to sometimes get onto the proboards forum, at least I had trouble constantly. Now that we are paying members, we can have our own forum right on site.

This is a great place to foster our community spirit, as well as workshop pieces of poetry.

The new contest will be a poem, written in any form or style -- but the topic of the poem must be something to do with the hidden joys of summer. You can interpret this as you will, but I'm specifically looking for poetry that will give us a view on some of the joys of summer that are often overlooked, or forgotten, perhaps from summers past.

You have until the end of September. Please NOTE me with the link to your submission, and I'll add it to the journal. (In other words, submit your poem as a deviation, before submitting it to the contest.)

Prize: 3 month subscription to DA and a feature in the journal.

If you sent me the poem in a note, without a link to the deviation, I'm still waiting on the link.

If you want to do an official write-up on any forms with a specified rhyme scheme, meter, and/or repetition, please note poetic-forms.  Suggestions on forms for others to write up are welcome.

The write-ups should contain a brief history of the form, perhaps an example, and a full description of the rhyme scheme, meter, common themes, etc. You will receive a  next to your name for accepted form write-ups.
