JESSICA RABBIT & THE JUNGLE GIRL – Part 1 Script
EXT. DEEP JUNGLE – DAY
Dense leaves. Humid light. Jungle birds trill. The screen shakes as a large machete blade slices through the foliage.
CUT TO:
Jessica Rabbit pushes through the vines, her red hair tied back, safari shirt rolled at the sleeves, pith helmet tilted rakishly. She swats at a mosquito with one hand and slashes with the other.
> JESSICA (muttering, dry): “This is not Rodeo Drive…”
She stops, wipes her brow, glances at a hand-drawn treasure map.
> JESSICA (brightening): “According to the map… the fabulous Fortuna cache should be right… here.”
She parts one last curtain of leaves and gasps.
WIDE SHOT: a mossy stone plinth with an ornate TREASURE CHEST sits in a shaft of sunlight like a stage spotlight.
Jessica strides up, kneels gracefully (but with a comedic grunt) and flips the latch. WHOOSH! A golden glow bursts out, washing her face in sparkling light.
> JESSICA (awed): “Ooooh… my…”
CLOSE-UP: Gold coins, bracelets, and necklaces glimmer. Her pupils become dollar signs for a split second (Looney Tunes style).
ANGLE FROM BEHIND: Jessica kneels, rear and boots in the foreground. She hums to herself, sifting through jewels. We hear her soft murmuring, almost drowned by jungle sounds:
> JESSICA (off-mic, faint): “Mm… pearls for Paris, rubies for Rio…”
LOW BRANCHES MOVE: A MISCHEVOUS MONKEY creeps into frame on all fours, eyes gleaming. It tiptoes closer, sniffing at Jessica’s bag, tilting its head at her swaying hair.
CUT BACK TO FRONT: Jessica holds up a gold necklace to the light.
> JESSICA (decisive): “This one is perfect…”
PULL BACK: Without warning the monkey springs up onto her shoulder like a living exclamation point, chittering at the necklace. Jessica’s eyes go wide.
> JESSICA (startled but polite): “Hey! Easy there, fuzzball — I found it first!”
COMIC BEAT: They tug back and forth. The monkey lets go, flips, snatches the necklace with its tail, then springs to the ground with a triumphant screech. POOF! A dust cloud; the necklace gone. Jessica blinks, realizes her hands are empty.
> JESSICA (rising, pointing after it): “No, no, no! That’s mine—bring it back, you little jewel thief!”
She straightens, brushes herself off, regains her sultry composure:
> JESSICA (grandly): “You’ll regret this, darling monkey…”
She storms off after it, machete in one hand, pith helmet askew. SMASH CUT TO BLACK.
