Making lines was trickier than expected, since a good number of things were already wrong in the semi-sketchy pencil version ([link]). Then I got detail-obsessed and added more markings. ^_^ Still, gotta have fun with every piece, you know? A colored version might come in the future, at which point I'll scrap this and the original.

Thanks to Chris Vickers' mecha lineart ([link]) for inspiring the 5-minute background, and more importantly, helping me visualize necessary perspective fixes. He's an amazing original artist with quite a skill in precision coloring. I think a lot of aspiring gearheads could learn a thing or two from him...

Yeah... this is a nice linework... maybe somewhere might be more thick lines. But this is really nice :)

You did this all in GIMP? What brush did you use?

I actually want to start drawing digitally. I have a wacom tablet as well. Just not so much experience with GIMP.

Almost all of the paths were made with the Bezier curves tool. The resulting lines were stroked from the paths using a soft-edge paintbrush between 1 to 11 pixels wide with one of three simulated brush pressures (either constant, decreasing from one end to the other, or increasing towards the middle of the curve).

Thanks for asking and for the favorite! I like your freehanded linework a lot, by the way.
