Installment 16: March 15, 2009

Ah, a digital edition of the Mecha Sketchbook. The final form shown here was created about a month ago when I pored over "Zone of the Enders" Orbital Frames, but the file eventually sat idle on the hard drive since my anatomy went astray at the very beginning! Thus, it'll remain incomplete indefinitely.

You can see some of my methods at work in this composite image. The blue lines are from the initial 1-minute skeleton drawing that defines my chosen pose and proportions. The red lines compose a basic outline of what I want this machine to look like; in reality, there are two renditions: one very rough, and one clean--the latter of which you see here. Finally, I use the Bezier, paintbrush, pencil, and selection tools to create a final, tight lineart in black (this one's done completely wrong, though; I should've used a soft-edged stroke with pressure variation instead)
