I've been playing a lot of Assassin's Creed: Origins lately, and I really loved the design of the  Greek and Egyptian temples in the game.

So I thought about what ancient Equestrian architecture would be like and did a few skeches based on the designs in the game. These are not good enough to count as "deviations" but I think some of these have potential to be further developed.

Sooooo ... I'm just wondering which one looks better to you? (I like No.3 the most but it's not exactly meant to be a temple)

1 is nice. It draw your eyes to the center and I like the strong contrast in values.
4 is good too. I like the sense of scale. The statue feels big and the downward perspective make the ponies feel small.

Personally, I like 5 the most. Maybe enhanced with stained glass to give it that definitely Equestrian look? Ancient Greek architecture already ties in with  Equestria nicely because of the existence of so much Greek mythology therein, and the polished white surfaces of Canterlot are a credible descendant of, say, the Acropolis. Let alone the obvious classical Mediteranean lineage shown in Pegasus structures. I don't think you need worry about justifying the technology for large panes both because of magic, but also because old windows are often, when glass, composed of numerous small pieces leaded together.

I'd go with 1, 2 and 6. All of them are good, though.

If we are talking about Equestrian palace architecture, they prefer a lot of glass windows. All of them are amazing, but I think number 3 5 and 6 best represents Canterlot Castle. 1 is way too dark for ponies. Statues in gateways in no 2 are not common in Equestria.

But again, there are some exceptions, the castle of two sisters has few windows. Plus, you are free to make a different approach.

Besides, I'm not an environment artist anyway... Whatever it is, I think it will look amazing!

Ancient Equestria may not have had the technology to make good, large windows, though. Even making huge structures like in 2 and 4 might have been difficult unless you carve them from mountains, which would be interesting (a bit like Petra or the Sphinx of Giza).

Who needs technology when you have magic?

Besides, in the comic (I forgot which) Pinkie actually propose to Celestia a new stained glass window and directs her to the royal artisans. So, technically they can make glass windows.

EDIT: Okay, I know exactly it is mentioned in Root of the Problem Part 2 Issue 28 near the last page.
