Little Mod note: We are ever so sorry about the lack of activity on this these past couple of weeks, a couple of major not very good personal things have occurred so we have been scrambled. We are ever so sorry that things went kaput.
The Lunar year of the Fire Monkey
End~
As the morning sun rises, people aided by pokemon are beginning to pack up their stalls and take down the remaining decor. The ground still littered with red and gold confetti, the odd piece of bunting that had fallen down during the festivities of the night.
The occasional person looks rather worse for wear in the early hour, "the party they went to must have been pretty bloody good for them to be hunched over a bin 12 hours later" you say with a laugh quietly to your pokemon.
You find the pokemon you were looking for amidst the clean up operation. The Smeargle is sat by his little pile of remaining canvases, portraits of the monkeys have returned to their original form as ink drawings still looking just as mischievous as they were last night. He looks up and smiles at you, bowing his head in Thanks before turning to leave carrying his stack of portraits and his jars of ink.
As the Smeargle disappears you feel something pat you on the head. Looking up in the blossom covered tree above your head, one remaining Chimchar, it hops down onto your shoulder and then to the floor where it clings to your legs.
Thank you everyone who participated~ ever so sorry it went a bit skew-whiffy in the middle, life likes to be an arsehole sometimes.
The winner of the Chimchar:
Congratulations to Grassstrand the winner of the Chinese New Year Chimchar
There was one detail particular that caught us all, the lettering for monkey on the lanterns we all fell for that little detail, thought it was really clever that you went out found the lettering and incorporated it in your image.
After getting rid of the twelve troublesome ink beasts you return to the smeargle, who you find sobbing into his tail art supplies strewn about. It was clear the poor thing never meant for this to happen in the first place, merely wanted to welcome in the new year with art.
Your pokemon approach the sobbing smeargle and seem to be conversing with it.
"I-I'm so sorry... I didn't mean for this to happen" he blows his nose on his tail "I was given some ink from by a human, he told me to draw... He didn't say this would happen now the festival is ruined"
The smeargle picks up the black glass pot and hands it to you.
"He didn't smell familiar... he left pretty quickly after he gave it me"
You examine the jar in your hands. It's the size of a coffee mug, black glass with a red and white symbol on the outside. The symbol shows a white circle with a red circle above it, the white circle just peeking from the edges of the red one, almost like an eclipse.
In handling the jar you accidentally tip the contents onto the floor, out falls a thick black sludge that writhes, pulsates killing a flower with a sizzle as it engulfs the poor plant. You quickly clean up the unusual muck and try to stick it in a container.... Cresscelia might know what this is.
Deciding to take the Smeargle back into the main festival plaza, the pokemon apologises and explains what happened bowing his head in shame.
suddenly Cresscelia appears before the moon, although it's speech is directed at the smeargle it allows all humans and pokemon to hear what it has to say.
"I have forgiven you little artist, the incident has certainly made the welcoming of the Lunar new year a different one...."
The large blue pokemon hovers down until it is at ground level before the smeargle.
"I will bless you with inspiration to allow you to create a reward for the humans who are here."
It reaches out and places a claw like finger on smeargle's head before vanishing in a flash of moonlight, leaving humans and pokemon alike in confusion.
Smeargle reaches for a canvas, paint (real paint this time) and crafts a life size portrait. Three mischievous monkeys clad in red, white, gold. With tails like brushes, manes of white, masks on their faces.
Upon the smeargle's last brushstroke a playful laugh is heard from within the picture.
The portrait twists and distorts as the ink runs off the canvas, in an explosion of colour here stands the embodiment of the Lunar New year... the year of the Fire Monkey. The festival is back on track.
Week two
After tasting the delectable treats and intriguing stalls you come across a dark corner of the festival, you glance at your pokemon and decide to take a look.
Walking down the damp corridor, the cool night air tugged at your clothing, however something compels you to continue walking. After roaming for a while your eyes come across a faint light in the distance, feeling relieved you and your pokemon head towards its warm glow.
As you reach the light you notice a smeargle painting away under the lanterns soft glow. You approach the unknown pokemon. A soft laugh stops you in your tracks, you turn you head in the direction of the noise but nothing is there, you turn back to face he smeargle and bump into someone. You turn to apologize, however the stranger ignores you, turning their head away, you catch slither or red, ‘was I imagining it or…’ you ponder this for a moment then realise it must have been a reflection from the lantern.
Feeling relieved you walk up to the smeagrle to nosey at his painting, when suddenly something large and red jumped from the paper. It was hard to make out in this darkness, however it looked almost taurus shaped. Just then more and more of these strange but familiar creatures came springing to life, each with a different shape, but each were red in colour.
Week one
Though the fireworks and the singing have all but faded away, a slightly tipsy Lapis and Hammy stumble your way Tyto doesn’t really do New Year XD. They’re holding a box of papers and proceed to hand you one of the papers. Taking the decorated poster you briefly look at it noting the title PKMN-CC Chinese new year’s festival
“Hope you guys have some fun this January” Lapis calls slightly slurring her words. The two messengers turn around and continue to hand out posters to all the other members.
As you take a closer look at the poster your excitement builds in anticipation of all the fun you would soon be having, though looking at Hammy and Lapis some of us need to have a little less fun. XD
The day of the festival has arrived, the dark forest has now been lit with lanterns, bathing everything in a warm orange glow. You take in the full sight of the festival, the music, the FOOD Lapis REALLY loves food the stalls, everything, there’s so much to do, you aren’t sure where to start.
