I saw this at the Guerilla Art Show yesterday, I REALLY like your artwork, this one is tied for my favorite with the jungle piece. Your stuff actually reminds me of this guy who does a lot of work in movie art [link] although a bit less refined...which is still really really good.

It was great to see what the students had produced but your work really struck me, since this is the kind of work i've always admired and wanted to do, but lacked the skill and was always a little intimidated to try or even know where to start. If you don't mind my asking, how did the SoA help you develop your skills, or did you mostly learn it indepedently? Our SoA seems mostly focused on fine art rather than conceptual work like what you do.

Anyway, great work and best of luck to you, though I don't think you'll be needing it. ;)

hey thanx,
to be honest I can't say I've learn much from SoA. Being good at traditional media i.e. gouache, oil...etc can really help one develop skills in the digital media, but I've never done it before not have I taken any classes at uw. I just practiced as much I could and tried to imitate professional artists from sites like cgsociety, cghub, concept art and so on.

I can totally see what you mean. I liked learning how to paint with oils and want to continue doing so, but as far as character development, concept pieces, etc. it didn't do much but provide good practice for how to use color in painting, which I have applied to a few digital works since.

ha love the deadmau5 logo, how do u get that much detail in the buildings? My buildings turn out so flat usually, nice pic!

thanx. Took me quite a while to detail the buildings. Just have to make 1-3 buildings believable/super detailed around the focal points and rest of them can be scribbles with strong silhouettes and it will look like its detailed.
