I love writing, I only really bother uploading fanfiction - as I doubt people would want to read my original work, still writing is my greatest escape in all its forms, so thank you for making this very lovely stamp! :D

I love the stamp but the title bums me out. Writing is hard work, and boiling it down to 'talent' saddens me.

Loving the typewriter. Brings back memories of when my dad pulled one out of a dumpster and fixed it up just so I could use it. Good times.

I adore this stamp. :|

I think mostly because you used an actual typewriter.
How many writers today would be determined enough to use one? No auto-correct, no spell-check, no going back without having to skip lines, scribble things out or pull out a jar of white-out.

I have been lucky enough to have been submitted to using one for months on end. When I didn't have a computer to use whenever I wanted. Especially at 3am, when my mother was asleep and I couldn't raid her computer in her room for fear of being screamed at when I desperately needed to pour out masses of ideas on a page. Well, determination kicked in, and I whipped out the 40-something-year-old typewriter and began to write stacks, old school style.
And after months of going hardcore on the old thing, I popped a spring, couldn't fix it myself, and moved on to the 20-something typewriter. Electric, no screen, but it had 'typo tape' built in, and single-line-memory, as well as an extremely basic dictionary that would chirp at you when you made a typo, though you had to guess where. I swear, the day I pulled that out and mom hit the 'demo mode button', I squealed a little. It was so sweet and endearing, typing itself out an introduction to explain its functions like a key-chattering HAL9000 machine. It was like this lovely little retro pet. A pre-computer with a brain just slightly better than a Mr. Spell. I think the funniest part was when we had to hunt on ebay for replacement ink cartridges. The only place we could find any that didn't cost an arm and a leg were from a place that sold 'vintage office supplies, for your all your classic office supply collections!' I looked at mom and chewed my lip, "If only this person knew what we were going to do with these when we got them. They'd scream." Later, I ripped those suckers open and typed out all the ink in stacks of papers all over the place.

I am left-handed, which makes me more prone to spelling errors on the English keyboard.

I am not confident nor determined enough to use a typewriter, unless I had no other options.
Jerepasaurus Featured By Owner Aug 10, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Yeah, I had no other options at the time. lol

I agree. I am a writer myself, and am trying to be convincing to appreciate.
ZeroG131 Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2011
I have just started writing, as an actual skill and not just "MaeK de sToRAAZ!" The thing I hate is how a lot of people are just "writing" a story. Not short stories, full out novels. Just spewing out an event. They don't think about overall themes or lessons. I find that those things are essential, so that when the readers done reading, they actually leave slightly affected. The only other way to do that is to write a REALLY good story. That's something difficult to do. Also, tiny things like alliteration to emphasize a point or statement, actual foreshadowing to discretely hint toward a future even, or even juxtaposition are over-looked. They just pull shit out as they go along. Not really thinking about the elements in it, just the story. You wanna know what that becomes: Twilight -_-
CottonCandyRose Featured By Owner Aug 30, 2012  Hobbyist Photographer
I kinda agree with you, but... If they just write for fun, noone should tell them to stop it. But if they publish it as a real book... *shots myself* And if the stories are full of grammatical errors or even wrong spelling, I'd never even read a word of them. (I'm not a native English speaker, but even I make less mistakes than some English or American etc. people when writing a story. Dx )

BTT: I love this stamp, even if I don't have a typewriter. I'd so love to have one T.T I'm a writer ever since I could, well, write, so this really fits me. x)
