Nightglide Serpent (Mythic Compendium)
Type: Fauna β Nocturnal Predator
Description:
A whisper of motion against the starlit sky - the Nightglide Serpent moves like a shadow given form. Its body is long and supple, sheathed in scales that drink light rather than reflect it. Two gossamer wings, nearly invisible, shimmer faintly only when the moon is full, revealing faint fractal patterns reminiscent of constellations.
It hunts not by sight, but by sensing the heat and rhythm of living hearts below. When it dives, the air itself seems to dim; torches falter, stars blink away, and silence spreads like oil. Yet it seldom kills. Many believe the serpent feeds instead on the boundary between fear and wonder - the pulse of awe that grips those who see it and live to tell.
Legends whisper that a single feather-scale from its wing can absorb the glow of a lantern for a full night, and that those who carry such a relic dream only in shades of silver and black.
