Restricted Stock

Well, I didn't want to do this, but some of my stock is now by request only.  I've made a note on the individual stocks if they are part of this group.  To use these stocks, you will need to note me and ask for access to that particular stock image.

If you have no deviations in your gallery, I will not give you the stock. If you have nothing but cookie cutter horse manips in your gallery, I will not give you the stock. If I find any other reasons I feel are valid to not give you the stock, I will not give you the stock.  (I have every right to deny the use of my stock to whomever I please.  I own these pictures, and I allow others to use them because I want to, not because I have to.  Don't go off on me for not wanting them to be used in certain ways.)

This extra step of asking me first is to discourage improper use/crediting of my stock that has been happening lately with these types of images.  I figure if people are serious enough about their art and properly using my stock, they will not have a problem with taking two minutes to note me.  If they are just looking for an easy background to slap another picture onto, without really manipulating it at all, and then post it on other sites without the right credits, then they can go steal someone other person's pictures.  Gotta follow all of the rules to use the stock...

FAQ #157: Can I use things created by other people in my submissions? "Failure to obey all of the required Terms and Conditions or License requirements attached to the stock may result in the removal of your submission"

Rules and General Things to Know About the Restricted Stock

If I grant you access to the stock, and you later decide you don't want to use the picture, that's fine.  I won't be mad.  But I will be waiting for a manip from you, so if you could just let me know that you decided not to use it, that would be great.  Otherwise I might come angrily knocking on your (internet) door and trying to figure out where you used the stock and why you didn't notify me.  We don't want that! ;)

Once downloaded, the files should have my name on them.  This is so that when it comes to credit time, and you forgot whose stuff you used, you can look at the file name and my name is right there.  I strongly suggest not changing the file names for this reason.

Once I have given you access to the stock you asked for, you may use it as many times as you want (as long as you follow all of the rules).  You don't need to ask me again.  However, if you lose it, and you need to download it again, just ask again :)

By asking for the stock, you agree not to share it with anyone.  Violation of this and/or any other rules will be considered unauthorized use of stock and will be dealt with accordingly.

About Horse Manipulations

I do not want to ban all horse manipulations.  Some of the pieces involving horses made with my stock have been some of the most beautiful things I've seen.  However, I am getting very...bored to be honest, of all the horse-running-in-front-of-a-mountain manips that have no creativity in them.  If you make a piece and all it involves is a background, a horse, and some text, and the only manipulation you did was to cut out the horse, paste it and the text onto the background, and write your name on it, you need to try a bit harder.  I am not trying to offend anyone, but if I read "omg I can't believe this took me so long! i spent 30 whole minutes on it!" or something of the like one more time, I will pull all of my hair out.

The only people I have had problems with not properly crediting and whatnot have been people that have made these types of pictures.  But I know there are plenty of people who love horses AND care about their artwork, and are respectful to the stockers.  For this reason, I am not completely banning art that contains horses made from my stock. However, if these things continue, I'm afraid I will have to ban it.  Hopefully this new system will get rid of this problem.

Read my Terms of Use, and the ToU of all the other stock providers you use stock from.  There is a link right there in the artist comments just so that it's very convenient for whoever's looking at the image to click on it.  I don't think my conditions are too much to ask when I let you use my photos for free or almost free.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I really do appreciate it.

Don't be scared if you think your work isn't "good enough" or something for me to give you the stock.  That's not what I'm looking for.  I'm all for people learning and working to become more skilled artists.  I provide stock and (attempt) helpful critiques for this reason.

 Loves to my awesome watchers, and I appreciate every one of the beautiful works created by artists that have used my stock properly.
