My tablet stylus has completely vanished off the face of the earth.

I sat down the other day to work on Phantom Child and found every single thing I needed (tablet, USB cord, etc) except for the stylus. There is nothing more frustrating than having the time and motivation to work on digital art only to find yourself unable through other means.

Unless it's hiding at the boyfriend's place, it's gone forever. I've been racking my brains so hard about the last time I used it or moved it. I may have packed it in my laptop bag and taken it down to my bf's last time we played Diablo III. Perhaps it fell out. But I have already done a search there, and as of now have gone through my own entire place (which isn't too large anyway) with a fine toothed comb to no avail.

ARGH. Guess I should just bite the bullet and work on other creative stuff which doesn't need a tablet.

OMG, they actually allow username changes now! (that said, you can only change once every six months, and is only available with Premium Membership accounts)

I have grown so sick of 'pipthekitsune'! I chose it on a whim since 'Pixen' was already an account here, and since 2008 when I was 20, I started using Pipe Dream no. 20 in most of my new accounts on other websites.

So chuffed that I can update my deviantart profile to the same username! Wooooooooh!

To all my watchers, sorry for the recent inundation of photographs to my gallery. Two months ago my boyfriend bought a digital SLR camera - which I promptly 'borrowed' - and I've been really trying to get into capturing lots of different flora and fauna now that I can zoom in so much and get heaps of previously unavailable detail on each subject.

A word of warning, more photos are to come; but I think they'll be worth a look. ;)

She was suddenly surrounded with clamourous winds, or thoughts,  which swirled round malevolently and screamed at her. "Put your hands on the stone."
"Put your hands on the stone!"
A force gripped her, and shook her roughly, and she felt it whip round her hands and yank them towards the curved flat surface of the stone. Sobbing, she took its weight in them, and, urged by the thoughts, pushed anew.

Then that day came.

The day nobody - let alone herself - had expected.

On its everlasting journey, the stone had once more reached the flat. One final push saw it stable, and yet inexplicably not; so around she turned, downwards she paced, unthinking. Subconsciously expecting the dull rumble as the stone lurched back down the hill without even so much as a push.

But it never came.

Her eyes widened as she stared down the slope and felt her pace falter. She stood stock still, eyes still wide open, ears listening intently. She stood like that for a very long moment until fear got the better of her and she whirled round, half expecting to see it rolling towards her silently - an inaudible killer.

But no. The stone remained on the flat.

A hoarse gasp escaped her, and was soon followed by a cry of disbelief. She ran back up to where the immense obelisk (haha purple prose) stood and laid a palm on its pocked surface. She bent her ear closer and let it also rest upon it. No whisperings from inside it, no murmurings from around her. Her reality had gone silent. Deathly quiet, and yet she was still here, alive, and so was this stone; this rock that had taken her here to this place for years on end.

And yet now this change.

"You don't own me any longer." she said, watching as her warm breath met the stone's surface and billowed into wetness. "I own you now."

Silence was the only reply. It made her grin. "I own you." she repeated, looking down at the slope she would never have to tread again. And yet she could not stay here. Her reality would have to grow. She walked round the stone, looking around her and up, watching as the earth above her opened and a beam of sunlight broke through onto her face.

She squinted as the opening grew, clods of soil falling here and there, until it looked big enough to accomodate the stone and half again. In the sunlight the grey stone seemed to change in appearance, glints of colour flashing. She grinned again and placed both her hands on it.

She pushed. The stone felt as if it was barely any weight, like pumice. She began to roll it up the second slope into the sunlight and to her surprise it began to shrink; not desintegrate, but recede into itself. As it did so the colours flashed brighter and brighter. By the time she reached the new flat of sunlight it was no more than a glittering opal.

Yeah, tl;dr?

I graduated yesterday.

I now have an AMus and a BMusStudies after my name.

It was awesome.

So was the celebration afterwards.

Life is good.

Jumping on the bandwagon is fun; so here I go with my Pokémon Black and White thoughts...

As a bit of a prequel, I preorded both games but from different shops... mainly to take advantage of the preorder prizes. Toys R Us were offering a free plushie (I got an adorable West Sea Shellos in tribute to my Diamond version Gastrodon, Marshmello) and EB Games had a cool B/W accessory box (complete with 3 styluses for the 3 starters, a cover pouch, and etc). So of course I got B/W on the day they were released, which was awesome.

Back when all the sprites were leaked I did look at a few families with horror (Foongus, Tympole, Trubbish, Vanillite, Klink, etc) but hey that's what I thought when I first met Probopass and Heatran for instance, so hey. I think there are silly looking Pokémon in pretty much every region; but the good far outweighs the bad.

So here's what I've noticed is different (in no particular order):

* The constantly moving battle sprites. This to me is not an essential thing, but I suppose it does help with the illusion of a real life animal which breathes constantly (and I'm guessing especially heavily during battle). Also cool is how in battle you've got 'mon like Timburr and Dewott actually moving their props around sometimes. I agree with a few comments I've seen that praise the animations for really bringing out the different species' personalities. This reminds me a fair bit of the 3D battling games like Colloseum, although some of the 3d models are a bit lifeless on those games. Also, when the Pokémon are put to sleep in B/W, their eyes (if they have eyes) actually close! This is something which has been a bit of sticking point for me in the later games when small animations were introduced in when the mon appeared in battle - it seemed odd to me that the cute wide eyed critters wouldn't close them when asleep. But no more OCD for me in this department! Only a few days ago my Servine was put to sleep: soooo cute! :D

* Shaking grass. Thank goodness for the opportunity to battle the rare Audino here and there for a huge boost of EXP! Apparently the three elemental monkeys are meant to sometimes pop out of the shaking grass in Pinwheel Forest... I haven't seen them though. Also, Double Battle grass!!! This is so helpful for the level grinding I've been doing.

* Unova itself. I love the bridges! I love the scale they've put into it, that only a bit into the game you can run the length of a bridge and the camera slowly pans away to really give you a good idea of its size. The different shots which flick past as you progress its length reminds me stylistically of other games (such as racing car games) which allow you to change the camera to appear like a movie. Fun stuff. I love the differing environments and it seems like more attention has been placed on the scenery this time around. It's just gone into Winter in the game and the newest city I've found myself in has patches of unmelted snow on the grass around the buildings. It's only a blocky stylised game but God, I feel like I'm back in New Zealand or something with the realistic snow. Can't wait till I go north and hit blizzard weather - if there is such a thing in this game.

* Triple Battles. I've only had one for the moment, with that biker dude near the Cold Storage. It went alright; it was almost a bit intimidating - but exciting - to see three Pokéballs being launched at me. Hearing that there's a limit to what enemy mon your own mon's can hit means there's gonna be whole new battle strategies introduced. It'd be awesome if you can make it so - for instance - your Grass mon is on the left whilst the enemies Fire mon is on the right. Fire can't reach Grass so it's safe to keep it there. Hm, that is exciting! I wonder if things like Earthquake will still hit everyone on the battlefield? I'll have to check out the next city and see if I can nut it out.

* Connection Options. OMG! It is so much easier to link up with people now! I 'infrareded' with a friend of a friend the other day simply out of curiosity and straight away we linked up. I love the C Gear! Game Sync still hasn't been set up, but now that I have a 3DS (score!) it will not be so difficult to grab that net connection when it finally goes up. Without the 3DS I have to connect my laptop to the internet connection through Ethernet and create a wireless network with all these annoying fiddled-with settings so my DS Lite can actually connect to the wireless network. It can't just jump straight on the actual wireless net because it's WPA security. Bogus!

* Pokémon. I am falling in love with some of the designs. Swoobat, and Leavanny, and I definitely love Krookodile. Thanks to actually playing the game, I am starting to warm to Trubbish's cuteness. Ok, so I would have thought it stupid to base a mon on a plastic bag, but hey. I have liked Solisis' family from the start. Joltik is the cutest spider I have ever seen; sorry Spinerak, but my allegience is now to a fifth gen.

* PokéMart. There isn't one. Well, there is, but it's in the Centre now. AWESOME. This makes city visits for healing and stocking up on items so much easier! Also, all the trading - be it wireless or online - has been crammed up on the top floor.

* One thing I do dislike however, is whenever you enter a building. You pause at the door and the camera slowly (SLOWLY) zooms in on you before the screen goes black and you find yourself inside. Unlike previous versions however, this takes an age. AN AGE! I just want to get inside to talk to everyone, it's not a momentous thing to do in a Pokémon game since you're kinda meant to talk to EVERYONE be they in a building or outside. It's annoying when I wanna hurry up and heal my monsters and my character insists on stopping at the door; to knock or something? You shouldn't have to knock, it's a Pokémon game, and randomly going into random people's houses to chat, get items off them, and then leave again is the thing you do. ANNOYING!

* The Gyms. Woohoo! Talk about creative! I just beat the rollercoaster Gym. It was hilarious! You can still polish the badges you get till they sparkle, which was a nice addition to Diamond/Pearl, as I remember. But unfortunately, no scalic *tings* from them. Remember how you could polish them up nice and shiny so they give off a good quality *ting* and then play a C major scale, then something like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? Good times, good times... Unfortunately, not for B/W, all the *tings* the badges give off are the same.

* The Pokédex. Just a quick note to say WOOOOH! You can now flip through entries up and down whilst on the 'Area' option of the 'dex! So rather than quit out of an entry and go the next one then go to its Area entry, you can simply just press one button and you're there already. But they got rid of the picture of you and the Pokémon on a set of scales so you can tell who's heavier. Hmph. I liked seeing my character fly up into the air whenever I compared it to Wailord and Snorlax. Also they got rid of the messing-around-with-the-Cry by making it slower or reversed and stuff. Not that that particular facet had any use, besides being hilarious when doing it to a tiny mon and hearing it ROAR really low pitched.

* They STILL haven't fixed up a HUGE OCD thing for me about the Party lineup screen. Whenever your Pokémon has a status condition, the little box with PSN or whatever goes over the box for its level. So it is still impossible to know what level your poisoned mon is at (if you forget) until you go into its actual Summary page. ANNOYING!

* As a aside, whenever the girl character - me, in other words - chucks a Pokéball, HELLO FANSERVICE! *sigh* I do like the alternative storyline they've decided upon though, that the player character is actually older than 10 and starts off a journey at a later age.

* Also, whilst we're on the topic of sexism. I HATE PINK. WHY DOES MY BAG HAVE TO BE AUTOMATICALLY PINK IF I PICK A GIRL CHARACTER?! AAAAAAHHHHH!!! THE ENTIRE SCREEN GOES INTO VARIOUS HUES OF PINK WHENEVER I NEED A POTION OR SOMETHING! *dies from pink* Furthermore, you know when you save when you hunch down and a pencil and book appear over your head? Did you know that the male character has a GREEN pencil whilst you have a PINK ONE?! It's disgusting! Even the character's hat is white with PINK POKÉBALL AND STUFF! Also, as much as I love the C Gear, OMG WTF pink hearts everywhere and pink border? *dies again*

* The Select button (which is now Y). You can register heaps of stuff on there now, and then a separate menu will pop up everytime you want to use something that you've registered! Awesome!

* Bike. This Bike rides like the original Blue and Red bikes. As in, when you go, you go, when you stop, you STOP. There isn't anything else. Not like the Mach bike in Emerald which took a bit to accelerate to top speed and also to decelerate when you wanted to stop.

* The Music. One word. LOVE. A few more words, actually. Goddamn catchy! Easy to listen to! Some of them - Driftveil City - are nearly as groovy as the Mystery Dungeon music. Haha, awesome. I like the battle music, too!

* Items. One thing which is really overdue is being able to do mass item giving to your mon's. The only thing is, it takes a lot of time to get used to. The screen doesn't automatically go back to the Bag screen after you've given a Super Potion for instance. After that there's an opportunity to give another: to the same mon or another in your party. It makes things a whole lot quicker but like I said before, I have to make sure I don't just keep pressing A and healing when I don't realise it.

* Sorting Items. Yup, you can now get your items automatically sorted. THAT IS AWESOME.

That is pretty much all I can think of right now. If I get any more ideas and opinions about stuff I'll update later.
