Butterfly Teapot Tissue Box

By

Here's a 'companion' piece to the teapot I did a few years ago. :)
This is another kit by Mary Maxim. I changed just a little bit along the butterfly where the pattern wasn't identical, but otherwise followed the instructions. I wish I had altered more! The tight one-stitch used for the white background here really tightened the canvas, and so my box is just a little wobbly, especially compared to how straight my rose box is. If I had used the larger stitches like the rose box I believe it would have laid nicer.

This is going into my shop, since the colors on it match our theme perfectly. :)

Color Total: 6

What kind of stitch did you use on the background, if you don't mind my asking?

It looks like you used something like goblin stitch on the rose one.  I really like this stitch, but is it easy to use it on a pattern that doesn't already have it?  If so, I'm going to end up using it everywhere!

Thanks! Honestly, I don't know too much about straight up needlework technicalities. I can tell you, from my other stitching experiences, that this was super easy to do. You know how the patterns are laid out in grids? Think of this as a "1 over 1" stitch, I came up in a hole and went down directly diagonal to it, just crossing the plastic + between. I think you could easily take the Rose box I did and convert all those longer stitches into small ones like this, no problem.

I hope that's understandable. :O
