And for your further reading delight...

- I asked Tinselfire to pick their personal favorite of the entries and provide a small blurb as to why? Our judging was based on points tallied together between our ratings. The winners you see are the combination of those ratings. The following pieces were our personal favorites - whether they were winners or not:

Tinselfire's choice...

It was everything. Its frightful gravity dragged me forward like the inescapable grip of a singularity, devouring my sanity into its hungry void until nothing remained. Why couldn’t I stop? How did it have such hideous strength? All thought, all power of conscious objection

"H.P. Lovecraft is claimed to have said, 'Parody is the highest praise', and Barosus carries this beautifully. The rock-solid prose not only conveys a sense of lost perception and inhumanly strong compulsion, but makes the twist coming out of nowhere in the last sentence hit all the harder. Indeed, one can have beauty and humour without one excluding the other."

PinkRangerPower's choice...

"HollyRoseBriar's piece resonated the most with me for its interpretation of the theme. The prose has a clear narrator with a strong personality and a sense of humor. During the dialogue I found myself often chuckling. What struck me the most in this piece was the running sequence. It was such a unique, inspiring, brilliantly described scene. It was atmospheric and very attune to the beginning of the chapter I originally provided. Well done."

You guys really made my first contest a success. Thank you so much. And...

Truth or Dare?

Thu Nov 15, 2018, 12:00 PM
Many of you know the excitement, uncertainty and thrill in Truth or Dare?, a game that can be completely harmless... or deadly. Given the choice between answering questions truthfully or performing dares set by others, participants often exercise their creativity, fulfill challenges to great success and have a lot of fun. More importantly, quitting is not allowed, so, the only question left is... Are you ready to play Truth or Dare? :mwahaha:

Yes, I am ready! Bring it on. :eager:

  • Pick a stamp, featured below, and let us know which stamp you've picked in the journal comments.
  • Or reply to a person's Truth or Dare? challenge in the journal comments.
  • Answer questions truthfully, or perform dares fully.
  • Repeat! :la:

Actually, I would like to Truth/Dare others. :plotting:

Think of a specific question you'd like another member to answer truthfully, or something constructive you'd dare another member to do. Then, choose one of the below methods...
  • Truth or Dare Stamp: Note PinkRangerPower now if you'd like your Truth/Dare linked via Stamp (Subject Line for Notes: Truth or Dare? Stamp). Include a link to the deviation/gallery/etc. that contains your Truth/Dare in the Artist's Description, Gallery Description, etc.
  • Truth or Dare Comment: Post Truth or Dare? in the comments section of this journal.

Confused? Here are a few examples to get you started...

Truth or Dare Comment

Step 1: Challenge Someone!

Step 2: Once Accepted, Reveal Your Truth/Dare.

Want to accept a challenge? Just reply to the challenger's question with your answer:

That's all there is to it!

Rules

  • Truth/Dare takers may complete as many challenges as you like.
  • Truth/Dare givers may only have one open challenge each in the Stamp and Comments section. Once your challenge has been completed, you may issue another.
  • If you'd like to Truth or Dare? others, please try to complete another member's Truth or Dare?
  • No quitting. Once you have posted a link to a stamp's challenge or replied to a person, you must complete the challenge to the end. (Failure to do so will mean banishment from the game.)
  • Negativity, hate, etc. will not be tolerated.

Activity

Sorry for the “more than usual” absence this week, you guys. ^^;

As I’ve previously mentioned - I’m a manager with a large retail chain. So like... it’s all about Black Friday this week. Be patient with me. I’ll catch up with you guys again. Happy Thanksgiving!
I just tried dA Eclipse and immediately switched back. I'd like to leave the comment I posted on the official "BETA Tester" journal here for my general reaction to the incoming updates.

"One thing I'll say is functional and interesting is how easy it will be to surf through art. It will certainly be more attractive.

These are my large fears and disappointments at the loss of:

As a primarily Literature Deviant, my page looks awful. I think this new format is only geared towards visual artists which, for me, is incredibly disappointing. As much as we are in the background, a large part of your dA members are lit.-based. I've only recently joined, but looking at my page as a lit. deviant terrifies and disappoints me. If I were wandering through deviantART, I'd take one look and turn away.

Where did the badges go? Are we doing away with llama badges? What about those of us that enjoy them so much we've spent REAL MONEY through llama-trade? Is all that money for naught, now?

Custom boxes are a large part of what makes my page attractive as well as how I get everything I'd like on my page. Without them - I'm not sure what the adjustment will be like. Like I said - right now my page looks terrible in eclipse. Just bland and no color... because I am a lit. deviant.

What was great about the dA we have now is how customizable and easy to navigate the "widget" menu is. What's the replacement here? Because as far as I can see - the customization has been taken away and our pages look how "they're going to look". Period. We're all the same. Especially as lit. deviants. You won't be able to tell one from the other except for a little icon at the top and a "cover photo". One of the things that makes social media sites like "facebook" so boring.

I don't want to be taken as someone that's simply "close-minded".

I feel that the issues I've brought up are very legitimate - and as a paying member and someone that has donated core memberships to 20+ deviants since joining a month ago, I would like to know where my money goes. Because right now, I feel that originality and the ability for a deviant to customize their profile in a unique way has been muted into the same basic format for everyone. I also feel that lit. deviants get the short end of the stick here. And the loss of llama badges really irks me since I did pay ACTUAL MONEY to enjoy the "llama trade" thing.

If there are any plans to improve this, I'd very much like to hear them after spending 100s of dollars happily on this site for my enjoyment and the enjoyment of others in less than a month.

Thank you."

Create for Comments Contest, Elements of NatureTo all participants of the "Create for Comments Contest",
While this contest took place in ProjectComment, it was managed and funded by a person, PinkRangerPower, who has since disappeared from DeviantArt.
Unfortunately, as this contest was managed and funded by an individual, there is nothing I or the group can do to resolve this situation.
Please note that this is a supposition that I cannot prove or confirm. I have no concrete knowledge - I do not know what has happened, whether PinkRangerPower will be coming back, what is going on, etc. I, as Founder of ProjectComment, am in the dark as much as you.
I can only hope that nothing life-threatening has happened to PinkRangerPower. While I understand your frustrations in how this contest is unresolved, I ask that you have compassion for someone who has disappeared. As it has been a few months, and we have now started a new year, I would suggest moving on.
Thank you for your understanding.
