Description

Today’s mission took a big step forward.

This image shows the vacuum/lithium ship out in space after launch, and I’m honestly really proud of how clean this build came together. What started as an idea for a long-range science probe slowly turned into something far more refined through iteration: fewer failure points, stronger thermal stability, better reactor placement, a proper battery buffer, a tighter science package, and a much smarter balance between thrust and fuel.

The final result is a ship that feels purposeful from top to bottom. The launch stage gets it moving, the vacuum stage handles transfer work efficiently, and the lithium lander is the heart of the mission with extreme ISP, strong TWR, full science capability, and enough control to do real surface work instead of just drifting through space looking pretty. I also cut down excess fuel and dead weight from earlier versions, which pushed the design into a much better place. It now has the kind of balance I was aiming for from the beginning: powerful, lean, stable, and actually usable.

What I like most about this build is that it reflects the way I’ve been learning KSP lately. Every version teaches me something. Every redesign strips away a little more waste and gets closer to the real shape the craft was meant to have. This one feels like a ship that earned its form.

Now that it’s in space, the mission feels real. We’ve got the network, we’ve got the range, and we’ve got a lander that is much stronger than it first appears. From here, the goal is simple: push outward, start collecting surface science, and see just how far this machine can go.

Out in space with a vacuum/lithium ship. Exactly where it belongs.
