I recently decided to take on the challenge of redesigning one of my favorite iconic childhood villains for either a modern video game or movie. That meant I chose none other than Skeletor from "He-Man and The Masters of the Universe".
Skeletor posed a unique challenge in that I wanted to do a completely new and unique design that still hearkened back to the original but without channelling it, or the original live-action movie too closely. Throughout the piece I would tweak the final design in small ways but the final Illustration gives my overall vision for him.
Here's a character sheet I recently did for Batgirl. I had so much fun doing the Red Hood one that I figured I'd like to take a stab at a female and Batgirl was the natural choice, since I wanted to stay within the "Bat Family".
For those who are interested, the suit design borrows heavily from several iterations, including the original Batman The Animated Series, Sean Gordon Murphy's comic book designs, Phil Bourrasa's Young Justice take, as well as Batgirl from the Arkham games. Anyway, this was a lot of fun and hopefully it get me a job at this game studio that I'm applying to. Fingers crossed
