The Little Mermaid 2023 Review

Warning: some spoilers. For the first time (in forever), I went to a movie theater. The last time I did so was in 2019 to see Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. (RIP Pacific Theaters) After several years of COVID, it was quite the experience to be able to watch a film on the big screen again. The film that I have seen in theaters is Disney's The Little Mermaid (2023). The Story The Little Mermaid (2023) is a live-action remake of the 1989 animated film of the same name, which itself is an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. The film focuses on Ariel, an adventurous, feisty young mermaid who yearns for a life above the sea with the man she loves, Prince Eric. After saving Eric from a shipwreck, Ariel exchanges her treasured voice for human legs through a deal with the sea witch Ursula. While the remake follows the main points of the 1989 version, there are a number of significant changes that establish a strong identity from the original. One of them is giving Eric a
