A little late for the 1000th episode, but the memorial version of We Are for the milestone was absolutely beautiful so I couldn't resist taking another crack at this one (and, no, I'm not going to bother digging out my first attempt because it is positively and embarrassingly ancient by now) I  also just love the cape they gave Luffy here, it makes him look like Gol D Rodger.

As for the sketch, this one cleaned up pretty easily since there weren't a lot of tiny details to worry about. Funnily enough, it was getting that stupid barrel to look right that gave me the most trouble. I actually considered tracing in a clipart to clean it up, but I think I ended up working with my own sketch well enough. I was also playing with the idea of adding a weave texture to Luffy's hat to add some more  detail, but it blended in to the motion lines too much as it is here. I did find a really good pattern, though, so I'll try it again when it comes time for color.
