So, funny story: while poking around Facebook not too long ago I came across a post showcasing Vampire Princess Miyu from a group for oldschool anime (I knew it was older, but I had no idea it was even older than me!) and I noticed someone commenting that they wished it was available on streaming. I recalled having seen the show on Retro Crush, so I was going to point them in that direction but I wanted to make sure it was still available so I went to the website to check first and as soon as I got to the main page I was greeted by an image of Saint Tail with a "newly added" tag!
The series has been in the back of my mind for a long time as I vividly remember it being advertised in the back of my early run Cardcaptor Sakura manga volumes, but I never actually saw it on the shelves (manga, DVD or otherwise) so I was super excited that I now finally had a chance to watch it. Unfortunately, after digging a little deeper I learned that Retro Crush is a paid services (a relatively cheap one at that, but I had still been under the impression it was free with ads due to them having a live channel on Roku) but after a little more searching I found it free with ads (by proxy OF Retro Crush) on Sling.
Unfortunately, the episodes seem to switch between dubbed and subbed with no reason or rhyme. I had really been hoping for JUST the dub since it's a little hard to maintain my pace on the elliptical when I have to focus on reading subtitles, but since it's free I'll make do with the inconsistency. I had actually seen an old boxset for Saint Tail at a booth at a con specializing in retro stuff a while back, so if its still there I might have to pick it up!
ahem ANYWAY! As for the sketch, the right(? uh, the one holding the staff....) and the head of the staff had to be traced in because I wasn't happy with my attempt and for the sake of detail respectively while her little broach was actually pieced together using some basic cliparts and a bow from one of my own previous works, also for the sake of detail. Other than that, no major changes or fixes were needed outside of the polishing you can see.
Saint Tail and all of it's characters, including Meimi belong to all respective owners. I do not own the series/character(s) in any way, I am just a fan.
