Time Tolls His Bell - 6/3/2012
The bells that chime away each quarter
They draw attention to time passing
Remind us of its fleeting
Give homage to lost moments
He said something similar but in fewer words
as he took short breaks from kissing my lips
His freckled arms joining to hands that caressed my slightly rosy cheeks
His sighs as the inevitable thief known as Time crept by the window
Delicate and gentle
Kisses and eyelashes
Warm breath and blue eyes
These things, too, will eventually be tampered with by Time
The trees that shake
and the storms that brew
The rain that played for us that night
All a soundtrack discarded and replaced by that crook

These old cars and workboots are the life I've been given.
Last night I noticed the age in my father's face,
and the reality of time set in.
The babies I once held in my arms are growing.
Tires of the fieldwatchers have rotten,
and my eyes hold no childlike innocence.
Shallow breaths as I kick the mud from my boots,
the dust from my flannel
grime exfoliating calloused hands
Two decades since I was ripped from my mother's womb,
three months too early,
the same shallow breaths.
Two years since I watched my grandfather die,
memories of the eighteen in between
These old men set examples,
of shoes the young ones will never fill.

I'm just a recent college graduate who has found many years of enjoyment in writing and photography. I'm not that great at either and hope to continue to grow in these fields, even though they are just hobbies. I also love antique cars and trucks and various outdoor activities.
My cousins - (Their old accounts were and )
Other people I know outside of DA: (Hope I didn't miss anyone.)
Current DeviantID was taken by (now ) and edited by me.
P.S. - I usually fave and run and only occasionally make exceptions, so please don't be offended if I don't comment on one of your pieces that I added to my favorites. If I fave it, I like it!
I haven't updated my journal since 2012.
Sorry.
I have been busy with college and such.
I graduated in 2013 (got that psychology degree.)
Then I took a year off and substitute taught.
Now I am working on degree two. Woot.
Obviously lots has happened since then.
I have been happily dating my current boyfriend for 3 years.
I also recently got back from a 10 day trip to Ireland and England. It was my first international trip, and it was an AWESOME experience.
Of course photos of that are coming up.
What have you guys been up to?
Also my little cousin graduates from high school tomorrow and my class is about to have their 5 year reunio
Hey, all!
It's been 3 months since I last wrote, but there's really nothing new here "art"-wise.... ;) Except for maybe new things to write about. Last semester ended well, although it was hectic. Now I'm just finishing up my final week of summer class. Yay! After that I will hopefully have more time for photo taking as well as editing. I've been doing a little bit of poetry lately also and eyeing my poetry from the previous semester of poetry workshop thinking "I should really submit that."
