This is probably my first and only Marichat May contribution.
Not even remotely original, but I’ve always wanted to do my own witch/familiar AU. Mari’s like any other witch but her specialty lies on crafts and fabric (no surprise there) but because her parents run a bakery, she knows a bit about food magic too. Adrien is a Cat Sith, a fae that usually takes the form of a cat. Adrien’s family is is considered a “noble”, having existed for a long time. His father, Gabriel, is currently one of the few chosen leaders of the fae. Noble fae are born with superior magic but they can also perform complex magic with relative ease, like shapeshifting. Adrien refused an arranged marriage from his father (even though fae can choose who or how many they wish to marry). He runs away, disguises himself as a cat, and eventually becomes a familiar, all just to spite his father.
Very last minute idea, and I wasn’t sure if I could submit these in time for the Fanforge contest. I did submit before the 10th, technically speaking, so we’ll see how that turns out. But even if these don’t get accepted (for whatever reason), I still had a lot of fun with the designs.
Not a totally original idea, but imagine, during lycée, Marinette decides she wants to make dress shirts based on the miraculous holders for her design portfolio. She starts with Ladybug and Chat Noir dress shirts, obviously. Alya goes nuts, helps to model the Ladybug shirt (while Mari wears the Chat Noir shirt), and blogs about Mari’s little project from start to finish. Adrien is floored and immediately helps Marinette pay for high quality raw materials. (He’s spending most of his money on expensive cheese for a certain tiny friend, so might as well use it for a close friend.) He even volunteers to model every single shirt to help promote Marinette’s work. Alya still helps with modeling, though she weirdly avoids putting on the Rena Rouge shirt. Nino is tagging along for the fun, but even he was roped into modelling with his best bud Adrien.
Between school and work as Ladybug, Marinette manages to complete and perfect the designs of all seven dress shirts. Through Alya’s faithful blogging, Marinette gets enough attention to be commissioned, both for her “miraculous” dress shirts and custom apparel. She tries to squeeze in a few original pieces, with Adrien modeling them for free. In return, she feeds him enough pastries to give his dietician a migraine. (During a quiet afternoon, Marinette surprises Adrien with a specially-made Ladybug shirt for all his help, especially since he paid for most of the materials in her “miraculous” project. Adrien hugs and twirls her in the air for a good long minute. Two distinct screaming can be heard. Mari wasn’t sure if her lack of breath was because of the intimate shoulder-to-hip contact or the energetic twirling. Probably both, considering she faints in the boy’s arms. Adrien was scared he actually hugged her to death. Alya and Nino remembers the incident as the funniest emergency skype call. Adrien doesn’t think it was funny at the time.)
By the time Marinette actually starts applying for fashion school, her portfolio has more than enough proof of her talent as a designer. Many years down the road, Marinette could honestly say that the miraculous changed her life, in more ways than one.
