About two years ago I started to get into pixel art, but I didn't make my DA account until about a year and half ago. At the time I only did extremely simple sprite edits. Since then I have dabbled into photoshop, graphic design, and creating my OWN pixel art.
The first shown above is the oldest piece I have, while not being my first pixel art uploaded here at DA. The second is a non sprite edit and is also much larger.

I started out as a pixel artist 8 years ago by editing sprites too. I'd say you're off to a great start, keep it up
