There was this restaurant I saw in New York called Eataly.

Stop trying to be Sans the skeleton, NY. You sound like a Chinese person trying to say the word "Italy."

Washington, D.C. is better than New York.

NY is the abbreviation for the New York state, not New York City (NYC).

and the capital of NY is Albany... I did not expect that while learning the capitals of the US in third grade.

it's a matter of opinion really (i would hate nyc since i don't like big cities), but nyc was and still is a very important financial center, so it not getting to be a capital was at least unexpected

and thanks for enlightening me!

I live in a suburban area, so I don't like cities either.

When I was in third grade, I wondered why some state capitals are the capitals instead of other cities with a bigger population or other cities that are more well-known. Memphis actually has a larger population than Nashville, but maybe that has changed by now.

A few capitals end with "city" in the name: Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, and Jefferson City. It's possible I forgot one, but that information isn't important for me right now.

I'd like to also say that some cities share names. There's a Kansas City in Kansas AND Missouri.
