NGE: College Of Chaos-the proper intro

Anyone who actually reads my journals/deviation descriptions might have heard of a fanfic I'm working on called Neon Genesis Evangelion: College Of Chaos, and I don't think I've given it quite a proper introduction. First, I think I should start with the idea's conception. Earlier this year, a friend and I were talking on AIM, and I mentioned something along the lines of, "If I had an Eva, it would likely be a permanent beast type, modeled after a Tyrannosaurus." His was a Russian made unit (Unit 13, IIRC) that had some really odd but powerful tool (I don't remember the details that well).

This kinda spawned the creation of the creature I have come to call Evangelion Unit 17. So, in a desire to make use of my creation, I decided to give fanfiction another go.


Originally, it was gonna be a self insert, but decided that was just lazy, so I made a new character, Eric Braddock, who is the new lead.

For the most part, Neon Genesis Evangelion: College Of Chaos, follows a similar plot to the original NGE. There are Angels and Evas, as well as NERV. Seele still wants to initiate instrumentality and that stuff. Shinji and Asuka's inner demons(desire for Gendo's approval and the fear of being useless and hurt) are still there, but there's a big difference: everyone's in college in this version, so they've had a bit more time to learn to deal with those phantoms.

Some mechanics and personalities have been changed. For example, the soul of the Eva is not required to be the pilot's mother. Another one is that Rei is not a clone of Yui, and she has a personality (much like her Angelic Days incarnation). Shinji is probably more in line with his manga counterpart, just a little less of a douche and with more confidence. He doesn't want to pilot the Eva, but he does it to impress Gendo, and, kinda like Kira Yamato from Gundam, protect those that he loves. Asuka is a bit nicer, probably more along the lines of her Campus Apocalypse personality, but still has her bitchy moments most of the time.

Mari is going to be present, I'm just not going to bring her in til later. I need to see You Can (Not) Redo when it comes out to help with her personality, since it seems like we're gonna learn a bit more about her.

Overall, the story will have a more lighthearted tone compared to the original series, focusing somewhat more on character interactions, but having the Evas and Angels still play a significant roll.

I also have many surprises in store, so don't expect anything EXACTLY like the original plot.


The preview image for this is actually a little CoC logo I whipped up with photoshop and  a screencap of the NGE logo with the silver kanji that appears at the halfway pints of the episodes. It will be used in any sort of "poster" art for the fic.

I really hope you'll read it and give me feedback, cause while getting faves and stuff us nice, the thing I want most is constructive criticism on my work.
