WRONG! Harry Potter isn't "deaded!" I still read the books to exercise my atrophied brain through Rowling's decent to say the least writing! Harry Potter is hitherto so good that when I have children or baby sit any new to the whole story, the only way to know its brilliance will be to experience it, simply by reading the books, which is how fantasy and fiction are SUPPOSED to be written!

Yeah. I think JK Rowling still doesn't realize that Severus Snape was the true anti-hero of the whole series. Snape will live on forever, thanks to those of us who can read more deeply, and appreciate a character who's got hidden depths among his character flaws and inner conflicts. Thank GOD for fan fiction, and fan artists!

i think we should all band together, go storm JKR's home, force her to re-write the ending so Severus Snape *squeal* lives and make her publish the new, REAL version of the DH.

I actually give JK major props for not going all melodramatic with the deaths. In a real war, some of the combatants are there one moment and gone the next with no glamour in their goings-out. As someone in a military family, I appreciated the frankness and the refusal to sensationalize. That's what made the Battle of Hogwarts so effective IMO.

I only began reading HP this past year...or caring anything about it. In that short time, Snape entrenched his dark and surly heart firmly within my own. I cried when I read about his death, cried again when I reread it...and again, and again, and again. I think his death was important and sadly, necessary, in the line of the story, but that doesn't mean I have to like it!

In my world, canon is nothing but fodder (hehe) for my fanfiction fantasy ...where Snape lives quite happily....in his own malcontented way. :)

Oh, and the stamp is brilliant!

One of the most pointless ways to die ^^; Why no one thought of helping him...I don't know :XD: You'd think after all the time Harry spent in the Hospital Wing he'd pick up a few healing spells ^^;

There were FOUR deaths in that book that made me cry. Moody, Dobby, Fred and Colin.

I was too shocked when Snape died... I cried the second time I read the book.

Weird, I only cry when I'm expecting it... Usually I blink and go "Oh... My... GOD!"

hedwig
lupin
tonks

they are unloved? (not by me)
-moody made sence to me
-dobby it was touching
-fred that was just cruel
-colin was forgetable, just basically just fangirling we never really knew him
-snape sorry to say but I still hate him & i always have... he basically got off on tormenting an innocent boy who was very sweet and had a very hard life being orphaned, abused & treated as a slave... his reasoning his daddy was a pain in the ass & his mama never gave any ass lily was his friend she defended him against her OWN house mates until the day his trust slytherin blood-snobbiness came out the "M" word is the magical answer to the "N" word & there is NO coming back from that... point is snape was a DOUCHE he tried to keep the kid alive cause of the prophecy but tbh i think the kids pain was his real reason cause the kid looks just like his daddy w/ mama's eyes

All very true, my perceptions of people change easily, as I'm impressionable.^^;

Nahh, they aren't unloved.

I'm too mad about the pointlessness of Hedwig's death to be depressed

Lupin and Tonks are such a quick mention (until Harry uses the stone) that I slip over it, which depresses me enough on its own. :(

I KNOW D:

:cries:

But, srsly, Vizen is right... he had to die... :\

Although, the harry potter world is a world with MAGIC! When harry saw snape's empty eyes, it could mean that snape has taken some potion (as he himself is a potion expert), for example, the drought of living death or so...

P.S. The thumbs aren't working for me... is it only available for subscribers?

Ok, Ok, Ok...I'm such argumentative anytime...But for me JKR had been right, Snape had to die in the shadows, alone and helpless, for unfair reasons - just like he lived, because he is a tragic and Slytherin hero, not a basic Gryffindor hero.

BUT ANYWAY it hurt so much !!!!! :cries:

I admit that I love Harry Potter, I really do (I even tried to shut the light off by saying 'nox'), but I mean it, when she killed Remus, Tonks, SNAPE of all people and more, I was devastated!
That was seriously a CRUEL thing to do! D<

Yeah, at least his death had some kind of purpose plot wise. Lupin and Tonks were alive one second, then mentioned as being dead in an off-handed manner later.

I really don't want to read the books now. I just saw all the films on DVD about a month ago and when I learned online that Snaped died I still am greiving. I don't think I can handle the books.

Rowling is a sadistic bitch who did all this on purpose. She read all the blogs and such, she says as much in interviews, I think she read the blogs to find people's favorite characters to kille them so she could cause her fans pain because she is a sadist.

Is Snape evil? There seems to be no straight answer on this and there are so many posts and opinions from various times during the writings of the books.

I don't know why there are so many different opinions when it could be a very simple yes or no.

And I even heard one person say that Dumbledor was actually evil and had contrived all of Harry's suffering and contrived to condemn Snape's soul to HP hell by having him kill him. I mean, why didn't the guy just cut his hand off? Or just the finger with the ring on it?

JKR is something of a real twit. In an interview I read she said that Harry and Voldy could just co exsist and not play the game and they could both live and all this stuff wouldn't have to happen.

WTF? Voldy is evil of course he is going to play the game whatever that means. Harry has no choice either because of Voldy. What does she mean by this? Does she seriously think that she is talking about immature school children?

This interview was after book 5 or 6's publication.

:-)

There are different types of evil. It depends on the definition of evil we might apply to Snape - we know he was no longer a Death Eater, THE definitive evil characters of the book. To treat a kid like he's inferior because he's the product of your childhood sweetheart's marriage, however, is pretty heartless in any situation, since it's not the child's fault. Snape's not necessarily evil like Bella and Voldemort, but he's an nasty, sarcastic and deeply unpleasant man. Some would brand that "evil". I would certainly call it evil.

The reason why it's not so simple is because a lot of things helped shape and change Snape's loyalties - there's an awful lot of grey areas where he underwent different experiences which changed parts of his attitude. There's no moment where he's suddenly evil or suddenly good. He has to work through his grief and anger over Lily before deciding to become a spy, he doesn't decide in a moment of nobility to turn good. Would he have turned spy if Lily wasn't involved? Eventually, maybe, but that's like asking if WWII would have happened if Hitler had never been born. There are always other factors.

I think JKR was posing that as a theory - Harry and Voldemort COULD co-exist, side by side. Put them in giant test tubes, for example, and they're both alive. Nothing's going to decide to kill one and leave the other. If one doesn't make a move to murder the other, neither of them are going to die. But Voldemort feels he HAS to "play the game" because he's heard the prophecy. He feels threatened, therefore he's chosen to initiate the fight. And then Harry is drawn into it and given no other choice. I think Dumbledore talks about it, but I haven't read the books in ages, so I could be talking a load of uninformed rubbish and in that case I apologise :)
