I realized that the most natural non-trivial binary operation on the Rhodic algebra was Schur (i.e. entrywise) multiplication, and that the "flip" operations I had already defined were just special cases of this. I tried rendering the Mandelbrot set by defining the square of a number as the Schur product of it with itself. My first results, plotting just the escape time, came up with completely uninteresting triangles and hexagons. But I thought, just for the heck of it, I'd try convergent colouring instead. This pretty much made my jaw drop.

where ∘ is the Schur product
