ENVY
Such satisfaction gained from all this lust,
too soon will fade like other memories;
the things you keep are best to earn your trust,
I wish them mine, though this can never be.
I scorn the fools that have the things I want,
a yearning builds inside that I can't hide;
forgive me if I come across to blunt,
I'm covetous of things on every side.
I am not satisfied with what I own,
those things of yours I covet even more;
consuming envy took the life I'd known,
'till I no longer knew what life was for.
At least I've kept my youth, you can't deny,
flights of angels have not the beauty I...© 2017 David Rogers
