( I followed this seires and all the "drama" surrounding their relationship. I loved this piece the moment I saw it.)
I always loved this series of drawings. It was such an original interpretation of the myth. It's inspriing and heartbreaking at the same time.
I am struck by the Yin and Yang imagery in this piece. Tradtionally, Yin, the dark swirl is associated with: shadows, feminity and the trough of a wave. Icarus being in grayscale speaks to his vunlernatility in this relatonship. He's in love with the Sun, wich represents brigthness, passion and growth (Yang). The sun itself helps many organisms grow. She provides Icarus with his first experience with Love, and in so doing helps him grow and mature - regardless of the danger that provide Icarus is willing to love her.
Your use of light and shadow truly creates a stunning image. Interlocked together the eyes is drawn to the center where their hearts float towards eachtoher, but never quite reaches the other. Personality
I can feel each character's personalty shining through this interaction. Icarus's open, vunlernable stance. The Sun's closed off, scared body langauge. It's tells such a detailed story (even if someone hasn't seen the progresin of the series).
I now it's pointless to root for them, but I do. They are such a dramatic and yet satisfying love story.
