Narcissus is a man who fell in love with his own image when he saw his reflection on the water. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus died. Narcissus is the origin of the term narcissism, a fixation with oneself.

I love greek mythology since I was a kid. I've been wanting to draw this since Pandora Box. No time to talk world cup is coming and I have lots of work </span>(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

Omg! I LOVE THIS! I love Greek mythology! I wish he could have ended up with Echo. That's another reason why I hate Hera! She's just evil!

Other translations say he drowned when he tried to kiss his reflection and fell into the pool

Kinda surprised Echo isn't in here (as in the myth, she followed him and repeated... or shall i say.. *echoed*.. all the words he whispered to himself in the pool, and died along with him... oorrr... is that a different version...?)

Ohh~ echo being cursed (by Hera if I remember right?) I've heard of.. But narcissus by Aphrodite's a pretty new part to the tale for me xp makes waaaaay more sense now, thanks XD

Echo had been cursed before she met Narcissus,  but later when she met Narcissus, he was furious that she would keep repeating what he said, and cast her aside. Aphrodite was angered with Narcissus and made him fall in love with his reflection..so on so forth. Hope this helped =)

I've heard it told better than this, but here you go: "In Greek mythology, it is believed that the [Amaryllis] flower was a quiet and shy nymph that fell in love with a shepherd, Alteo. Alteo had the physical beauty of Apollo and the power of Hercules, and did not return Amaryllis' affection. Amaryllis tried to win the love of Alteo by offering him the most unusual flower on earth. She sought counsel from Delphi, and showed up at Alteo's door for 30 nights dressed in white. Every night, Amaryllis would use a golden arrow to pierce her heart. When Alteo finally opened the door, he saw a vibrant red flower that arose from the blood that poured out of Amaryllis' heart. This tale gave the Amaryllis the meaning of determination, pride and dazzling beauty." www.gardenguides.com/106431-sy…
