OK I make with the critique! One of the things I picked up on right away and not necessarily because it's obvious more because I am conscious of myself with this- is that I can tell she's holding her breath. I have not yet found the secret to looking effortless and natural underwater so I dont have a lot of advice but for me it's her face that gives it away. Perhaps a more head on shot or 3/4 angled would take that away I don't know. I see this is still something you're experimenting with so don't take these too harshly- just observation. Her arms and the fabric are quite lucid but I feel something needs to be happening with her legs, seeing the cut offs of her feet is confusing. If they were turned fully to the left or right I feel it would make a stronger impact post wise. In my own personal preference I'd like to see the contrast upped or perhaps only the contrast on the material, but like I said personal preference!

All in all it's a quite compelling piece and while I am critiquing these things I am very much aware of needing to work on the exact same things in my own underwater modeling. It's so difficult, it really is a class on it's own like trying to model while jumping on a trampoline and not look like that's what you're doing.

Great start, looking forward to more!

This has some amazing plays with texture and light. I think the sash is really unnecessary. Make sure you check for small things like...oh I don't know...the hair band on her wrist? Those are the small details that stick out in a black and white piece like this.

I like the bubbles that seem to be rising up from her mouth, but if you're going to do that, then make it the focus (bigger bubbles or a different angle or something).

I understand how hard this pose is to keep under water. My suggestion is to do it by a ladder or something where it can help her push the bottom and look effortless then she can move away from the ladder and you can position so the ladder isn't in the shot.

Just some thoughts. Overall, I like this piece a alot. I'm not sure how I feel about black and white underwater, but I think you made a wise choice because of the excellent play of light. Keeps good interest.

About half of my work contains enough nudity that I have to put a mature content tag on it (if it's in the artistic nude category, it's automatic).

I'm usually more attracted by color in underwater photography... But some B&W ones can be really awesome, and this photo is among them.

The pose is wonderful, the lighting rocks, and the caustics make very beautiful "drawings" on the bottom and on the walls of the pool.

As being Contributor in #UnderwaterArtGroup I do regret that this goup doesn't accept nudity... Otherwise I would have sumitted this immediately to its Featured Gallery :/

As for my own Group #Under-the-Water I don't know at the moment... It's a new group and the rules on this point are not yet decided.

In the meantime I :+fav:

There is just something about this that's just so uncommonly lovely. I think it's the ripples of light on her hands that capture my attention the most.

A very nice flow to this, I really like underwater pictures. If anything I wish maybe it were a little closer, or maybe in color so you can really see what the water is really doing to effect the picture.

I took the liberty to download this to my pc and edit it a bit in lightroom. I like the difference. I'd like to show you what I'm talking about when I say just a tiny bit more contrast. Give me your email, Eric?
