This Feature is posted under the heading of Art Features in DA's hierarchy of submissions. If we can get 30 - 40 faves we can have the Feature in the top section of the popular Art Features for perhaps 24 hours. If we get that spot, we get more views. If we get more views, your works get more exposure, and possibly get more faves and views. You become more popular, your Watchers soar, your status goes through the roof, and who knows, you become a rock star, marry into a wealthy family, stand for the Presidency and rule the World - all because you FAVED the Feature. Mansions of The Mind
“Some use Ink, I confide in Silver”
— Lauren E. Simonutti
Quote by Lauren E. Simonutti
“ The misfirings of my beloved/despised mind that conspire to convince me to destroy all have rendered me housebound and led to a solitary life. A creature of past, proof, memory and imaginary friends, I am aware enough to know the things I see and hear are not real, but that does not mean I do not still see and hear them.”
For a very long time Lauren Simonutti's haunting photographs were a spectral presence amon
Smoothing, Sanding, Buffing Polymer ClaySmoothing, Sanding, and Buffing polymer clay is definately something that you don't hear a lot about in the younger polymer clay community, but it certainly does make your pieces look a lot better in the long run. If you smooth, sand, and buff your clay AND add a layer of varnish - watch out, your pieces will look as bright, beautiful and glossy as a piece of delicious candy.
Have you ever noticed that translucent clay really isn't THAT translucent? Well, if you smooth, sand, and buff it - you'll be seeing differently! It really DOES get see-through!
Give these tips a try, and although I can't guarantee that you will get it right the first time, practice makes perfect, and sometimes new techniques take a little getting used to before you find a way that works the best for you.
Smoothing your clay is what you do to your clay before you bake it. Running your fingers along the surface and smoothing out bumps and impurities can work wonders on a piece and give it a ve
Pageviews and Popularity - The real deal.Be an artist, not a number.
Many members of the artistic community here on DeviantART were shocked by a recent popular news article about how to become popular. I won't link to it because that would be foolish - but the mentality behind it was pageview orientated and made a 'mockery of all that deviantART stands for'.
So - to spell it out for everyone on DeviantART whos ever wanted more pageviews, I went to my nearest and dearest ' popular' artists and asked them what they thought about popularity and statistics.
The answer? They don't give a damn...
Your page views won't help you progress as an artist, and that is what you should be on this art site for.. the art..
Page views can be a feel good thing - I won't deny that - but it does not reflect how much your actual art is viewed, how sucessful or popular your art itself is, or even how popular you are.
Using cheap tactics as described in the article it is easy to generate high numbers of page views even with an EMPTY gallery.
PE: Marketing Your Adoptables[deviantART Related]
What are Adoptables?
Adoptables are character designs that can be adopted or purchased by other deviants. The cost for these can be a set price or are sold in an auction-like manner (highest bid wins).
For a more in-depth look at what Adoptables are, check out GinkgoWerkstatt's PE: Adoptables article.
Marketing Your Adoptables
With the adoptables trend growing larger and larger each day, it can be difficult to sell your adoptables as well as yourself. In this article, I have listed a few tips with ways to market your adoptables.
1. Start Small
It is best to start small if you have never been into the adopables "scene". First and foremost, you should always develop a set of rules for your current or future adoptables. List out what the adopter is and isn't allowed
PE: 5 reasons to believe in yourselfSuccess is not a measure of how much money you earn or how popular you are, rather, it is being able to find your passion - one that makes you happy and ultimately, one that you would be happy to leave as your legacy. To make a step forward to reach your dream takes smarts and guts but why couldn't you? Here is five reasons why you can.
1. Everyone was born equal
More-less, this is true, some people are born more challenged than others but we all possess skills and ability to learn. It is possible to build something out of nothing if we really want to. It all comes down to our preferences and decisions.
"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."
2. Overcoming your fears
By constantly challenging yourself, you can get rid of fears that used to follow you. You will no longer be worried, you'll know you can count on yourself.
"If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right."

A New Wind Lifts Storytelling
First imagined as a bedtime tale for his son by Kenneth Grahame in 1908, The Wind in the Willows has remained in the top twenty children’s stories ever since. But things have been getting weird out in the Willows, as the new comic on deviantART, Weirding Willows, will attest to.
Badger, Mole, Ratty and Mr. Toad are back… but they’re joined by Alice, Frankenstein’s Monster, Mowgli, The White Rabbit, Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny as they defend the world from the Wicked Witch of the West, Doctor Moreau, the Mad Hatter, Mister Hyde and the Queen of Hearts (not to mention the flying nightmare monkeys from Wizard of Oz.)
