Devious Journal Entry

Sat Apr 29, 2017, 1:18 PM

Hello friends!

I have fantastic news - I finally finished writing my novel! Yes, it really is true...

A few years ago I swapped my camera for a pen, in hope of realising an old dream of being a writer. I had some writing experience, but nothing could have prepared me for years of trying to get the abstract idea out of my head and onto paper.

The finished manuscript is being read by the second beta reader right now, the first has read just the first half and I am super happy to say that she loved it. A lot of work still awaits me, I want to tidy up a bit, add a bit here, remove a bit there, but all in all it is already a perfectly coherent narrative that clocked just shy of 130,000 words, 88 scenes and 33 chapters plus an epilogue.

I'm lucky to have three more betas who are keen on giving me their feedback, so by the time we are all finished with it, I feel reasonably confident that I'll find someone willing to publish it. Fingers crossed!

Other than that, I'm itching to start on my next novel, the plot and the characters are all sketched out already!

See you all around, even when I'm not submitting, I come here most days to enjoy your art :blowkiss:

It's all in the planning. When you start writing, it feels like you have endless amount of story, but then you realise you need loads more to fill the minimum word count. Then as you develop it, eventually you might overrun, but you still have the scenes and plot points in mind, and as you work through them, inevitably, you reach the end. :)
