Thanks so much Edie! Its the dahlias that I grew in my garden, they have a beautiful colour, purple with occasional white streaks, very photogenic.

dahlias are hubbies favorites but take a lot of care because u have to dig up the bulbs in the fall and replant in spring and in the meantime store them in a dry dark place....it is worth it when they bloom but I decided not to do that.......Ill just admire yours maya.

I'm hoping I won't have to dig up mine. The weather here is pretty mild on the island, our climate is more French then UK. It doesn't really snow or freeze for any period of time, so apparently with mulch or cloches covering the ground, it might be ok? But I'll look into it before I decide. I bought these as dug up bulbs and they did really well, but they took ages to sprout, it made me really nervous and I nearly gave up. Glad I didn't!

if it does not freeze I dont think u have a problem.....we get snow and freeze and all that other great weather.  You could dig up a few and leave the rest and see
