A Black Pearl for the Dark Lord

It is a raw fractal or a fractal manipulation?
I believe is exactly in the gray area in between: i was forced to add the BG with gimp(for some reason was no possible do it directly in M3D) but thank to the M3D z-buffer was a 10 seconds task.
There is also a microscopic character added to make more clear, by contrast the dimension of the structure but may be hard to be seen even if i hope that contribute ,at least to a subliminal level to the
global impression...
