Hope you are all having a good weekend. I am.

It's my son Ruben's 2nd birthday today. Time flies.

Less than two weeks for my holidays. Can't wait.

I haven't taken a good photo in ages. It sucks.

Dear friends,

I am sure you are all aware of what happened in London today, so I am not going to go into detail. All I can say is that I am utterly devastated by the loss of innocent lives. I went in to work today like I do everyday on the tube and travelled through Kings Cross only 10 minutes before the blast there. As of now, 37 people who lost their lives and hundreds more injured were not so lucky. It fills my heart with so much sadness that I cannot be glad that I survived this day.

If anything, these events have rekindled my community spirit. After being away from deviantART for such a long time, today I decided to have one last attempt to come back and be a part of this exceptional place once again. I just hope I will succeed this time.

Cheers

Puzzzzled..

I only just noticed the link to the gallery stats on my page. What a useful addition!

I noticed one strange fact, though. Total number of views to my submissions would average way under 100 I think, but the most viewed deviation was Bee Happy (www.deviantart.com/deviation/1…) with 2,456 views! But that wasn't as big a surprise as the fact that it only had 17 comments!

Anyway, that aside, I am enjoying being here again. Work and life are both still pretty much full to the brim but it's good to be able to enjoy the great photography that's around here.

Cheers

2004

It feels strange being here again! It's been so long, just too long really. My last journal was dated 25th August but I have not been that active on DA since last April. When I look back I realise what a busy and eventful year it has been. No wonder I had no time for fun things such as photography and DA. However, I am grateful to be able to put all that behind and with the New Year, start anew.

Of course like everybody else I have resolutions for 2005. Alongside with the usual stuff - loose weight, change to a healthy diet, exercise more etc - my one important resolution is to have more time for photography. So hopefully you'll see more of me here on DA in the New Year :)

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who left messages and comments on my work in my absence and indeed to those of you who have added me to their friends list knowing I was not around. I really appreciate it.

Whishing you all a happy 2005!

Coming back...

Sun Jul 25, 2004, 1:42 PM
It's been more than two months now, I've been inactive here. A lot has happened and I have been extremely busy. I have not been even carrying a camera with me and have almost nothing new to submit. Sad, but true.

I would like to resume normal activity but it's been so long I don't know where to start. I know I have missed a lot of great art and would love to be able to visit all the people in my watch and people who watch me to comment but I am not sure if I can handle that and still cope with the new submissions. On the other hand, I would like to take it easy and start slowly. So in short, I don't exactly know what to do. I never thought coming back to DA would be harder than starting in the first place...

Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I just want to thank you those of you who visited me and left nice comments and messages in the last couple of months. I really appreciate your support, you know who you are...

:pixen:hotocell
I don't think there is any point in pretending I could still deal with the messages in my message centre. I might as well accept the fact that it's not going to happen. I am just so tired and busy at the moment. Too much is happening and not enough time in the day for everything, so some things have to go. Unfortunately at the moment DA is one of them. All I can say is I will try my best to login now and then just to keep the interest going but I won't be very active for a while. I don't know how long.

A big THANK YOU goes to everyone who's been supporting me with their comments, messages, and favs, and also to those who simply look at my work and enjoy it quietly.

So take care my friends, I hope to be back before too long...

This and that

I met nasigoreng, bmuda, djoel, Naranja, and aluminum yesterday. They were shooting around London, but unfortunately I only had a few hours and had to leave just when it was getting really exciting. It was good fun, though. They are all very nice people.

On a separate note, I picked up a Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di Autofocus Lens for my Nikon F75. It's a joy to use. I have to see the prints to tell you if I am satisfied with the quality but so far I am very pleased with it.

Other than that, nothing else to report. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Thank you everyone for stopping by

Evan is one of my Canadian friends. He has a unique style and a very rich gallery with a great variety. I would be surprised if you haven't already come across one of his great comments. If you haven't already seen his work I recommend that you check it out.

I would like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season. I hope you will all have a smashing time, whatever you do and whoever you spend the holidays with.

----
The festive season is HERE!, but it's still not too late to play my little game :)

So, here's a reminder of what you do;

Until the new year, choose a few of your favourite deviants. Take the time to think carefully about why they are your favourites. Visit their user pages and leave a comment starting like this

You are one of my favourite deviants because...

and list the reasons as bullet points like so

+ you are...
+ I like the way...

and sign with a

RULES:
DO NOT include any other emoticons, signs, links, or any other text. Don't tell them about the game, either.

There are no other rules. You can give any reason but please don't concentrate on their artistic talent, you do that with your comments on their work. Try to see some personal qualities of that person.

You can choose as many deviants as you want, but to make it really special for those you choose, try to limit it to a maximum of 5.

Lastly, I may participate in this game, but unfortunately, as I am the one who is suggesting it here, I SHOULD NOT be the subject of this game, i.e. you cannot choose me, sorry.

Please try your best to take part. It'll be fun.

Thank you

UPDATE
I hope most of you have been playing this game and enjoying it. We are getting even closer to the end of the year, so why not spread this idea here on DA. Please feel free to copy the text above and use it in your own journal.

Reached 1000 pageviews tonight... hip hip hurray!

A special thank you goes to bmuda for capturing it ;)

Other than that, I don't know what to do with this information though. I've been here for two months... so is 1000 pageviews normal? How does it link with deviation and deviant comments? What about number of deviations or indeed comments received for those deviations? Number of watchers? Or is it not important at all?

In the last two months I believe I improved as a photographer. Maybe not with the quality of my own photos but with the way I look at a photograph and what I see and what I take from it. I am learning to appreciate the wonderful pieces of art I see on DA more and more each day.

I am also looking at my own work in a different way. Some photos I had selected for submission are not good enough anymore. So if you ask me, I am very pleased with the way things are going. I suppose at the end of the day that's what matters... self satisfaction.

So I am happy :)

It's a fairytale so tragic
There's no prince to
break the spell
I don't believe in magic
But for you I will
If I'm a fool, I'll be a fool
Darlin' for you
I'm countin' on a miracle
To come through

The Boss

I just tried to submit a new photo and it went wrong twice! So I had to delete it twice, and now my page is showing two less submissions :(

Really getting tired of the bugs of this new version of DA. I thought after such a long period of maintenance things would be better, but it seems they are worse.

Anyways, hope everyone had a good Halloween.

PS. I want my avatar back, too
