Hi! My steampunk novel HEART OF BRASS has been accepted for publication by Odyssey Books (Australia) and will be released in print and digital formats in May (assuming all goes well). I'll most likely include the short story "After the Flag Fell" as a bonus at the end of both formats (some characters are in both stories). I'll make sure the publisher knows who you are and how to contact you in case the flag is useful somewhere commercial. In the meantime, I'll continue linking back to you.

Hi Felicity,
Sorry for the late response. I have been absent from DA lately and just saw your note. First, congratulations on your novel being accepted for publication! That’s exciting news! Dance! I certainly appreciate your support of my artwork and including it with your literature. Thank you for the update and I will keep an extra eye out for the progress of your work.

Thank you so much! :)

Hey I just won first prize in an interactive fiction contest based on the life of Peter Lalor (leader of the Eureka Stockade rebellion, and speaker of that quote). Could I use your image for the cover - credited, of course! I'm not on deviantart much but I made a note of your gorgeous flag a while ago. please email me your permission at fellissimo@Hotmail.com

If I don't hear from you I may go ahead and use the image based on the above conversations, since I can see you're not here much and you seem to be happy to have your reputation spread.

By the way, if I ever release a Steampunk E.P. can I use this as one of the images on the sleeve?

Wow! Thank you, I’m honored that you asked. Yes, you can use the “Steampunk Nation: Australia” flag on the E.P. sleeve. I’m thrilled that you like it so much that you want to use it. The only thing I’d like to ask is that somewhere (in that tiny print that most people never read) you mention my name. It would be a great way to help me get my name recognized. I might even ask to have my URL included with my name.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do and when you plan to release your E.P.

Sincerely,
-Michael Estrada

p.s. I had a comment that this is pretty close to the NZ flag (if you make the stars red and take one off).

Your welcome!!! I'm glad you like it. I can easily make a New Zealand version. It appears Australia and New Zealand share the same pledge of allegiance. I can use the same excerpt or take a suggestion from you on what may be unique or meaningful to New Zealand.

You probably could, just a Maori translation. Shouldn't be too hard to find hey have Maori translations for all that kind of stuff.
