Fractal Genetics - An introduction to Mandelbulb3D Hybrids.

Sometimes this method makes a huge difference to the donor images, sometimes only a little and on occasion it produces nothing at all

Experimentation is half the fun though, right?

Thanks to =GypsyH and *Baddad for allowing me to use their works as examples ...

haltenny.deviantart.com/art/Ma…
haltenny.deviantart.com/art/Ma…
haltenny.deviantart.com/art/Ma… (this one is quite advanced)

There's also a HTML Readme document in the Mandelbulb3D program folder

Also you can pop into The Aposhack chatroom chat.deviantart.com/chat/Aposh… - there's usually someone in there who can help ... :D

Sometimes you get really cool results, sometimes not ... Patience Grasshopper ;)

Another cool thing that's a bit hit and miss ...

Press Calculate 3d and quickly press the 'swap this formula with the next one' button on the Formulas panel.

It will

a. Render a blank screen (press the parameter button on the 3D navi, the picture may be there. then just view to main as normal)
b. Render half and half or in stripes (press the parameter button on the 3D navi, the picture may be there. then just view to main as normal)
c. Render something really cool (save the M3i, and the jpeg ... You may be able to rerender the m3i but you will still have the jpeg that you can crop the top part from)

*HalTenny and I have been experimenting since [link] and we get some cool stuff and some crap ... :D

If I understand what you are doing here, you are actually not making a hybrid, you are just taking the styleset from one and applying it to the other. Might I suggest something in this case:

Load the parameters with the look you like... go to lighting.. on the bottom where you have the default styles, hit the M there and pick an empty slot anywhere. There you go. You have that style saved as a preset. you can now apply it to anything you choose. You can also export and load other peoples styles via the little disk there. If you search Fractal Forums you will find a few packs with lots of styles to add to your collection!

Hope this was usefull to you!

Yeah, it's a bit hit and miss ... I think it just copies the julia settings and colour/lighting from one to the other, so if the julia settings are the same nothing happens ... Maybe
