Christmas Town by Philipstraub Christmas Town by Philipstraub
Here's a new one to hopefully close out your 2005 with a smile and some holiday cheer. Have a great 2006!

As always take a look at the larger version since I spend way to much time on little details:)

It gives off a very serene feeling to it, one so wondrous and one that can take people back to happier times they have spending the holidays with family and friends.

Wow, this is absolutely fantastic. I love every part of it. Can I use this image in a video of mine? I'm not sure if I'll use this anyway, I just would like your authorization to use it.

Philip, you got yourself a(nother) fan! Moi! :+fav::+devwatch:

I love this painting a lot, it looks so cozy and warm, even though it's snowy! I also love the diversity in the building, different churches, different houses... Great! And your use of lighting behind windows is, as always, amazing, really!

:faint: An amazing and very atmospheric painting, the blue evening lighting of the late evening and the stained glass create an unmistakable atmosphere :D The contrast between the vivid town and the blurred landscape in the background is just as impressive, it serves well to underline the warm, cozy aura around the settlement :) An incredible work, definitely very :+fav:ourable! :aww:

Oh, I wish I could see the detail, but the large view isn't working! Still, I think it looks good just from the small thumbnail.

stain glass windows =

I adore the lighting of this picture. The way the light from the windows stretches onto the snow on the right side of this picture is the perfect touch! And the mountains are so (as cliche as it sounds) majestic. Yeah I pretty much adore this whole picture! FANTASTIC JOB!!

Wow....your art is too warm (except the snow XD) and friendly...anyway...what program do you use? Could you make some kind of a tutorial?...a tower for example...just something to start with.... ^^ btw....the mushrooms are stunning :floating: I love them ^^

I wish I had the patience to do things like this.

This is awesome--I love the detail in everything. By the way, are you right-handed?....everything seems slightly slanted towards the left. ^^; (for future references)
Philipstraub Featured By Owner Jan 2, 2006  Professional
Thanks...actually, take a closer look at the image....things are slanting to the left on the left side and to the right on the right side, additionally everything in the center is nearly perfectly vertical...there is a 3rd vanishing is true with 3 point perspective. The 3rd point is a bit exegerated for effect but this is standard 3 point perspective which would occur in reality if you were looking upon a city from this viewpoint:)

Ah, gotcha ^_^ I hated 3PS when I was in art class. Though, I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for pointing it out to me!
