Depending on how close you want to push the camera onto the figure, your modelling maybe complete - the rest of the details can be added through the texture maps (like the bump and specular maps).
That is unless you want to have an extreme close-up.
Even if you don't create the energy blades in your 3D program, it's good to add some lights where they should be so you're getting some accurate lighting on the armour for when you add the actual blades in later in Photoshop (or other image editor).
