Enemies Convert To Friends Ch. 10

For some reason, Chase had this strange feeling that the group was being followed. Although, with the situations they gotten themselves into over the past year, it was a common thing. But this time was different. He felt like there were two people simultaneously burning through his skull just by staring at it. 

"Hey guys, do you think we're being followed?" he asked while looking around. The others just shrugged.

"I don't think so," Bren said, also looking around. "You sure you haven't been eating rat dogs again?"

"No, B. I'm positive that someone is following us."

"Chase, get a bleezin' grip," Dax moaned. "One of these days, your paranoia will be the end of you."

"Joke all you want, Dax, but I know for a fact that someone is right behind us, watching our every move. And if you keep doubting it and someone is actually following us-"

"OK, OK, you don't have to bite my head off."

"Hey, has anyone seen Jinja lately?" Bren asked.

"She told me she was going to 'hang out' with Tango for some reason," Beyal answered. This piqued the boys' curiousity even further. Does Beyal even know what's going on with Jinja and her sudden obsession with Tango? Dax, feeling like he has been in the dark for long enough, walked up to Beyal, grabbed him by the collar and looked him dead in the eye.

"Now you listen here, Monkfish," he said with great threat in his voice. "Ever since those Strikers showed up, and Princess actin' all weird around Kunoichi, you've been keepin' rather quiet. Now you either spill your bleezin' guts, or I'll do it for you." Beyal was speechless at Dax's sudden attitude, and was at a loss for words. Chase, on the other hand, was far from it as he furiously walked towards Dax and pulled his hand off Beyal.

"Listen, Dax," he started with enough malice to scare of his own Monsuno. "If Beyal said we'll find out on our own, then we'll find out on our own. You don't have any right to threaten him into revealing his secret and-"

"It is fine, Chase," Beyal said calmly. Everyone surprised to hear Beyal say that, given the situation he was in. "I believe I have left you out for too long, and I apologize for doing so. It is true that I know why Jinja has been acting strangely this past week."

"If I remember, you said she had a thing for someone, right?" Bren asked the monk.

"Those were not my exact words, but that is true," Beyal said. "I first noticed during our encounter with the Strike Squad. Right before Tango was about to call out another attack, she suddenly fainted."

"Yeah, now that you mention it, she just dropped without any warning," Chase said.

"Then, when I suggested we get a moist towel to cool her down, she quickly said that she would do it herself."

"I don't think anyone can forget that," Bren quiped. "That was a surprise for all of us." The others nodded in agreement.

"Finally, when Tango came out in her new outfit, I noticed that Jinja was most attracted to her."

"Can't say I blame her," Dax said, slightly blushing. "I mean, she looked so beautiful."

"Don't tell me you're gonna fantasize about her, are you?" Bren moaned.

"S-Shut up, Glasses!" Dax snapped while his blush grew darker. "Like you haven't been thinking the same thing!"

"WHAT?!" Bren exclaimed, blushing even more than Dax did. "D-Don't try to lump me in with you!"

"Guys, we're getting off topic here!" Chase yelled, shutting both Bren and Dax up. "Beyal, I think I can piece everything you just said, but you have to promise us something."

"And what would that be?" he asked while raising a brow.

"If I ask you who Jinja has a crush on, could you give us an honest answer?"

"If it means that much to you, then I will."

"Good. Now here goes..."

Chase took a deep breath before asking. Dax and Bren just watched without saying a word and Beyal just stood there with the same expression he usually has.

"Beyal... does Jinja have a crush on Tango?"

Everyone looked at Beyal, waiting for his answer.

"Yes."
