A shifting series of phantasms, illusions, or deceptive appearances, as in a dream or as created by the imagination.-

Not that it’s really relevant to the contest theme, but isn’t it a nice big pretty word

Anyway, this group is for the submissions of the Touhou Crossover Fanart contest! Please refer to Namie-kun's journal entry for more details ----V

Competition Results Part 2!

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 31, 2012, 1:02 AM
Hey! This is Namie. I won't make this journal notifyable because i'm sure it's been through many inboxes already!

I don't have computer yet but I can hog my dad's (ww)

I just wanted to say quick, but very, very thank you for making this contest enjoyable and mostly positive. To be honest, I always was scared of holding a contest because the possible negatives put me off. But I am very happy I went a long with it! It's made me feel like some day I would like to do it again.

So! round of a plause to everyone! Making it one of the best things I have done in my life (no kidding). I hope that I can work hard, so that the book, in turn with the winners can uphold the quality seen in this contest!

Thank you again!

Hi guys!  First off, before we get onto the results of the Public Choice Poll, and Raffle and other updates for the finalists.

I have something important to say;  This is actually LuluSeason writing this on Namie's behalf
Some of you may already know, but Namie's Laptop decided to kick the bucket and Namie has lost things at quite a bad timing. Right now, Namie is redrawing everything on a computer which has no internet and things like posting this journal is quite hard on a mobile and so here I am to help out.

So, Let's head on straight to the updates!

:star: The Public Choice Poll has ended. Thank you to everyone who took their time to vote for their favourite!

The Winner was:
Touhou Fantasy XIV by vinhnyu Touhou Fantasy XIV by *vinhnyu :iconvinhnyu:
The results were very tight, for days it was at a tie until winning by less than a percentage! Congratulations!

Next up,
:star: Namie has a surprise for the other 3 remaining finalists !
Namie has her last set of Reimu, Marisa, and Sanae Phantasm Screen Plushies and would like to give them to you finalists! Namie wants you guys
(:iconsoftmode:,:iconjoyfool:,:iconreluin:) to decide how to divide the plushies between yourselves, and let her know what you guys decided on.

And Lastly,
Namie let me handle the raffle, and to make it all fair I put the numbers of entries through a Random Number Generator.

The winners of a free copy of the book are:
1. :icontoyoburrito:Toyoburrito
2. :iconufo-cha:Ufo-cha
3. :iconmykyo:mykyo

Namie will be contacting you three as soon as she can.

and Just a general note; It might take longer for Namie to contact the winners and to Open Pre-orders because of everything that has happened, and Namie says thank you for all your patience! Namie really is working hard to get things back on track as soon as possible! (and I wish her all the best from here \o/)

Yo! I still made it in time for October(happy halloween!) Here is the winner and runner up chosen with the help of the guest artist's opinions. I can't write well or long but I'll try I guess!

This was a unanimous winner from us. Amazing, eye-catching colour palette. Really beautiful is all I can think of! Touhou and Ghibli are a very similar genre and Aya and Momiji look so cool- it fits together so well!

:star:Runner up
The details are really impressive! There has been a lot of thought and reason evident about each character assignment, and that makes it very fun to look at!

:star:Congratulations to the finalists! Not in any order- Things were very close and hard to narrow down. You have to agree that along with the quality of these works, these are very smart cross overs!

I will be contacting you all soon (in order) for your details and the print file! We'll discuss prizes for the top three, after the public choice award has been picked.

I won't write thank yous and a summary just yet because the contest is not entirely over! Time to vote! I've cut it a day short because we're behind from the extensions and all;; It will end 4th november midnight WST (4th->5th)  Here is a countdown clock

Public Choice Award! Please vote here!

Also I'll draw out the raffle winners when the poll is over. Other note, yes preorders for the book will still be November! It depends on when I get my first proof of the book here; but somewhere in the middle of the month!

Seems like Traditional artists did not have a chance...honestly you should have told traditional artists not to try unless you did judging differently like best traditional best digital. yes i entered and lost and i am a traditional artist and so i may sound like a sore loser i just do not think i seems fair.

*it seems fair

That's how it works though. If it was a good traditional media, then it was bound to win.

:/ well thanks for that. computer drawing has automatic quantization so its not exactly fair but oh well it does not matter. I respect all computer drawing but the computer does many corrections for you. Just pencil and paper is different. computer art can add effects that are not humanly possible. the same as traditional music and electronic music. they both involve talent but are very different.Like a music competition with a metal band and a dubstep song, it would be hard to judge that fairly. but thats just my opinion. but the contest is about skill and originality of the crossover. Thats all i suppose.

I lost, and I'm really upset about it, since I did my best, but now I can see what I need to practice on in terms of detail.
