I have drawn very little this year. If you still pay attention to this account you might have noticed. I published a single picture this year. I do have reasons for that. Doubtless they're not good reasons by any objective measure, but I will offer them not to make an excuse but to explain where I'm at. For the first few months of the year I was in a funk. A lot of people were. There are big-picture things happening that everyone has been watching and trying not to despair over. I won't belabor that point. On April 2, during the evening, I was sitting at my computer in my home office/den, minding my own business, when the power in my house started to fluctuate weirdly. I was told later that a power pole down the block from me caught fire, maybe due to the Texas power infrastructure being in dire need of maintenance. The power fluctuation caused an old power strip on my desk to spark, and as it happens there was some paper and plastic junk nearby that caught fire. Things kind of
