Construction: The PRR built 425 K4 locomotives between 1914 and 1928. The Juniata Shops in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and Baldwin Locomotive Works built them.

Wheel arrangement: The K4s were 4-6-2 locomotives, meaning they had four wheels in the front, six wheels in the middle, and two wheels in the back.

Speed: The K4s could reach speeds of up to 87 miles per hour.

Power: The K4s had more than 3,200 horsepower.

Weight: The K4s, including the engine and tender, weighed 517,000 pounds.

Fuel: The K4s were coal-fired.

Service: The K4s were the primary passenger steam locomotives for the PRR until 1957.

Preservation: Two K4s, the 1361 and the 3750, are preserved and designated as the official state steam locomotives of Pennsylvania.

Restoration: The 1361 is undergoing restoration at the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
