John Deere tractor

History

John Deere began producing tractors in 1918 after purchasing the Waterloo Engine Gas Company. The company's first two-cylinder tractor, the Model D, was produced for 30 years.

Design

The GP Wide-Tread row-crop tractor was the first Deere tractor with a tricycle front and a wide rear axle. Henry Dreyfuss worked with John Deere engineers in 1938 to streamline the Model A and B tractors, which became hallmarks of the company's future products.

Popularity

The Model A and Model B tractors were the company's most popular tractors in the 1930s.
