Just in time for the holidays! I've also updated some older uploads to be available on more products other than stickers. I mostly just get stickers though. =) Below are the newest uploads:

I hate to delay updates so soon after returning but long story short:

I got a migraine Wednesday. I'm behind on class. I still sorta have the migraine- not the headache part- but the being sensitive to light part. So I'm supposed to be taking it easy. I also thought it's a great idea to fight Arch Tempered Xeno'Jiiva in MHW with sensitive eyes all afternoon. It was fun but that was a lot of flashing lights and I think my eyes are unhappy. My mom/friends say the migraine symptoms should go away in a few days at worse. I just need to work on class for a few days so PRS is being put on the backburner.

No worries: All is good, just tired and making bad decisions. Nothing new there. I'll definitely make up any missed updates in the schedule ASAP.

Seriously though: AT Xeno is one hecking fun fight. He makes Kirin look easy... but at least he doesn't give me the urge to throw the controller at the TV.

Heya all! Just an update on the hiatus situation. I was hoping to get PRS updating this week or last but the pain in my shoulder has been unusually high since Friday and I'm trying my best to take it easy. It's been a bit up and down and tonight especially is bad. The art I got done last night was under the influence of pain killers which I don't like to use often since they only mask the symptoms. Drawing with painkillers will still worsen the pain in the long run if I don't take it easy. This is why Inktober is behind (partially) as well as other things. I'm hoping the pain will subside back to the usual levels of annoyance by the end of the week.

Bear with me! I swear I want to get working on PRS again soon!

Yeah. I'm doing inktober again this year. xD Since I don't do the normal inktober with an actual pen on that flat white stuff people carry around I'm just gonna outline my personal rules for this year.

1. I will follow the main Inktober Prompts.
2. When possible, make Nightfall or Sunrise themed art.
3. Only ink brushes allowed in photoshop. If it's not in my ink set, it does not exist.
4. Do not use my usual inking brush. Try new stuff and have fun.
5. Max one hour per drawing (timer starts after sketch is done). This is cause I have other things to do. Also it makes me switch up my style some.
6. Minimize the use of tools like fill bucket, layer blending, etc. Layers are allowed but minimize usage when possible.
8. Absolutely no Pokemon allowed.
7. Have fun!

PRS is going on hiatus. I'm feeling really shitty about things right now and am overall pretty burned out. There's been an increase of negative comments both here on DA and SJ lately as well as a user harassing me on Tapas recently. It's getting to be a bit much. I know I should ignore these things and not let it get to me, but it has. Usually I'm most excited after posting a new page, but the last few pages have me feeling not so great about the story and comic. I just feel like the entire comic is a mess and that right now my best isn't good enough for the story I want to tell.

Don't worry. I won't stop working on PRS. I've been a bit depressed/having anxiety lately and I think it's time to step back for a bit seeing as the last few pages have been tough for me to get motivated for- hence the recent delays. I've got the next page sketched- but it's a monster of a page art-wise and even when I'm at my best I doubt the page will be what I want it to be.

This is an indefinite hiatus.

Howdy, everyone!

So lately I've been getting more questions on how some of the patreon stuff works. So I'm here to explain a bit more about some of the prizes. Nothing is changing today- don't worry- this is more to clarify a few of the more recent changes.

So as you know, I've got a patreon page that has been around for a while. It's grown a lot lately and I'm eternally grateful to the many amazing people who have stopped by to offer their support! Every month I do my best to give my thanks in the form of various goodies and updates. These updates have changed and evolved over the course of my patreon's existence. Things have been added, removed, changed, etc. and will continue to be tweaked as I strive to find a perfect balance of giving everyone the most I can while still minimally interrupting my usual workload on PRS/School/Life. So here's a list of current rewards and how they work- and do note higher tiers include everything from lower tiers.

The $1 Tier
- Early Access to PRS Pages. Whenever a buffer is present all patrons get to see the pages up to a week early on Smackjeeves. You must link your Smackjeeves and Patreon accounts for this.
- Access to doodles/Concepts. I don't upload these often but any and all doodles/concept art that I do upload will go on patreon for all patrons. These remain up forever.

The $5 Tier
- Postcards! Every month I send out a postcard to everyone. People are welcome to opt out of this if they feel uncomfortable sharing their address. Currently I'm thinking of changing these to sending two postcards every other month just to reduce the time spent filling out addresses as the number of patrons goes up. You'll still get one card per month you are a patron- I just won't be mailing them out every month.
- Stickers! This isn't a monthly reward. Every so often I'll include stickers with the postcards.
- Desktop Wallpapers - Twice a month you'll get a 1920x1080 wallpaper to use! Only the most recent wallpapers remain on patreon. They are regularly cleared out after a certain amount of time.
- Priority in Request Streams - Officially patrons must be present to request at streams. Unofficially, I don't usually enforce it. When present, a patron's request gets bumped to the front of the list!
- Access to High-Res PRS Pages: Self explanatory. I post the full res versions of each page on Patreon the same day as the public upload.

The $10 Tier
- Access to videos! Every week I upload an art process video. These will be patron-only for about 6-8 months before going public. Most often they are just sped up recordings of various drawings/comic pages I've made.
- Warm-up Sketch Suggestions: Not quite a sketch request, but sometimes before working on stuff I'll do some warm ups. I'll check the suggestions left by people and pull from there first before wandering to other random things. There is no guarantee these will be done.
- PDFs, Sneaks, Scripts, Layouts: All the behind the scenes goodies. These are mostly dumped in the patreon after a chapter ends. Usually starting with Annotated PDFs of a chapter, outlines, scripts, layouts, etc. If I get any sneak-peak worthy stuff before the next chapter goes up, this is the tier that gets it. These will stay up for a while and eventually be removed after a few chapters pass by.

The $15 Tier
- PRS PSD Access: Every week a new PSD file of recent/past PRS pages goes up. So far we've been going off buffer since I started sharing these maybe a year ago. We've nearly caught up with the current pages though. Once we catch up it'll be the week of/after the page went up. Right now I have no plans of removing older uploads of patreon but I may do so in the future.
- Non-Stream Requests! Patrons of this tier can make a sketch request similar to how they work in request streams. More on this below.

The $25 Tier
- These patrons get a 2nd turn in Request Streams (Must still be present.. if I enforce that rule.)
- Gets a full request or icon request each month. More on requests below...
- Access to any non-commission PSD (Upon Request- max 2 a month)
- Access to high-res of any non-commission art file (Upon Request - max 2 a month)
- Access to any unedited recording/video file (Upon Request - max 1 a month)

Request rules and guidelines:

There are two types of requests: Stream requests and Patron requests. I'm clarifying since there has been confusion on these. The stream requests are what I take during request streams and have a separate form from that of the patron requests.

All Requests
- No NSFW/Fetish Requests
- No more Eevee/lutions (With some exceptions)
- One character per Request
- I have the right to refuse any request for any reason

Stream Requests
- Done in a 3-7 hour long request stream
- Broken down into 3 parts (Sketch, Lines, Colors). Each part uses up one turn.
- Must be present at the stream to request (Not always enforced)
- Uses Request Stream form
- 25$ Tier gets 2 turns.

Patron Requests
- Done off stream whenever time allows
- Broken down into 2 parts (Sketch as one, Lines/Colors as the other.) Each part uses one request.
- Must fill out form each month to submit request.
- Uses Monthly Patron Form
- 25$ Tier can request a full start to finish request or a colored Icon request.
- Request can be for 1/4th of a PRS page.

Requesting PRS Pages:
- Patrons can use their patron request to contribute to a PRS Page instead
- PRS Pages are broken into 4 parts/turns. (Sketch/Lines/Flats/Shading)
- Every 4 requests for a PRS Page adds one bonus page to the schedule.
- Bonus page is started after 4 requests are put in.

It's Request Stream Night! Same rules as always apply:

- Patrons of the $5+ tiers get priority.

- *Only people who are considered regulars can request. This is to prevent random people from popping in, making a request, then leaving immediately after while never participating in any other stream, SJ/DA activities, the discord, etc. etc.

- You must be present when your turn comes or you will be skipped. Again, to prevent people from popping in and leaving. (Exceptions are Patrons and the most amazing regulars!)

- No NSFW or fetish requests.

- You may request I line a previously requested sketch or color a previously lined request. The previous request does not need to be your own.

- Requests should be placed via the request form.

- Don't forget to rpovide references

- I have the right to refuse any request for any reason.

- If there are no more people on the list, we start over from the beginning! (Time allowing)

I feel like I only ever post journals as status updates to PRS or work stuff. So here's one that's slightly less work/PRS related and more personal/fun. Don't worry- your usual PRS status update will be at the end.

So- hopefully everyone has been having a great summer so far. For any fellow Texans- please stay indoors today. It's hot. I've mostly been busy with this summer industry course where we have people from an animation studio work with us for 10+ weeks. It's been... Brutal- but a lot of fun and definitely a good learning experience. We're on week 9 (12 if we count our 'negative' weeks) and the finish line is in sight! I'm not sure I'll be sharing the finished animation here since it's a group project and all. I might show it in a future stream, though! Our industry mentors have been a huge help in making this all happen- even if they've sent my group into panic mode on a regular basis.

With that ending soon I'll hopefully have a little more time to work on art (oh no, entering update territory: ABORT) - but also more time for GAMES! I'm sure absolutely no one here has noticed, but I'm a big fan of the Monster Hunter Series. With the Behemoth update to MHW coming right as my summer course 'ends' you can bet I'm spending a day to scream and throw bugs at that monster for loot. And then MHW for PC comes out a week later. If anyone is going to get the game, feel free to drop by the PRS discord- we've got a channel just for MH. Our squad leaders are more than happy to help newbies out... There's absolutely NO chance we'll drop you into a highly lethal situation for laughs

Then a few weeks after that MHGU comes out on switch (RIP any hope of a consistent update schedule). I will be nabbing this as well as MHW. We're expecting a few members of the Bagel Brigade (our squad) to end up with both games- some will get one or the other. =) Always room for more people to die- er.... Play with!

Sometime in the middle of that mess I'll be in Vancouver for this year's SIGGRAPH conference. I forget what day that'll be but holy heck am I excited for weather that isn't in the triple digits. =D It'll be a fun trip- I've never been to Canada before.

---

As for more work-related stuff:

I haven't gone and responded to comments in a while- but know that your comments on the Giratuna upload are golden and pure. Giratuna will be available on Redbubble sometime this week, probably. Best typo ever. (It stayed in the script, too.)

PRS is looking at a August 10th return. I've got some progress on sketching various pages of the chapter... Not necessarily in order though. The end of the chapter is sketched, the next two pages are sketched... And one random page in the middle. There's some method to this madness. Maybe. Seeing as hell week begins I probably won't finish any pages in time for patron early access. I'll try though!

Also my friends over at the Pokemon Crossroads Forum want me to advertise and attract new members. I'm staff there and am in charge of the comics section. I host some art/comic related events on occasion and would like to encourage people to drop by and have fun. It's a pretty chill place. If there's enough activity I'll restart the bonus page incentives over at PXR. Maaaybe. If I'm still alive at the end of this summer course.

Okay... so as we all know PRS has been on an unexpected long hiatus since the start of chapter 9. This is in part due to a very rigorous course I'm taking for my graduate degree. The other part is a mix of... not quite depression- but just an over abundance of negativity and a severe lack of motivation to draw. Oh- and pain. Shoulder pain has been bad due to the extended work hours I've been doing for class.

Recently two comics I've followed for a long time have decided to end their run. It's always sad to see favorites come to an end- but I fully support the authors in their decision. Comic making is a very time consuming and exhausting process- especially when you've been working on one story for years. Without the proper motivation working on a comic can feel more and more like a chore to the point an author can grow to resent it. I respect any author who chooses to end a project to prevent that burden from wearing them out. I will not name the comics- but if you know which I'm speaking of, please be respectful and supportive of their authors. It is never a decision that is made lightly.

That said, whenever a comic ends partway through I stop and think 'why' I'm working on PRS- not in a way of 'should I quit' but more to revisit what keeps me going. I started PRS over 5 years ago. Over those years it's been an up and down roller coaster of emotions. There were many points where I wanted to quit. Points where I let what others said about my work influence my own enjoyment of it. Not nice things. There were events that made me feel resentment towards my own project. Then there was the crippling self-loathing; a feeling that no matter what I did it'd never be good enough.

Despite all of this I've somehow managed to keep pushing forward with the project. I've since cut ties with more toxic communities (one more to go, I think) and focused on all the good that working on PRS has done. It's been a great learning experience and one of the most influential parts of my improvement as an artist. More importantly it has brought me together with some truly amazing people like those in the PRS Discord channel. It's been people like them that have helped me learn to work on PRS for myself despite everything. I'd like to give a big THANKS to all those who've been so supportive over the years.

Two-ish years ago I promised that I planned to work on PRS til then end. While I don't know what the future holds- I'd like to say that I still have every intention of continuing. ^_^ Please bear with the delays- we'll hopefully be back next month~!

EDIT: ABOUT TO GO LIVE
picarto.tv/Nekomata

It's officially been five years since I started PRS! It's been a grand journey- and I'm so happy to have been able to share it with so many amazing people. <3 Seriously guys- I would've never made it this far without all of your encouragement and support.

I don't know what this next year has in store- Grad school is tough- but I certainly hope to keep the comic going strong as ever! With that said, while I'm not entirely done scripting or thumbnailing the next chapter- I do hope to have the cover page for Chapter Nine done tonight. In fact- I'll probably end up streaming it- so keep an eye out for that! Iif the cover page doesn't take too long (it shouldn't) I'll take some requests to pass the time. I hope to start around 5-7 PM central time and will be going for many many hours (I need to stay awake til 5 AM for reasons, so plenty of time for requests!) Sometime during the stream I'll host a special raffle for everyone present (and everyone on the standard raffle list too!)

So please drop by the stream and join the shenanigans! =D It'll make Naya happy! Keep an eye out for the next journal!

First off, thanks to all who came to the request and movie streams tonight. It was fun and plenty of art was worked on! That said, things got a little bumpy at points, so I feel I need to make a formal announcement about this.

These request streams were originally meant to be only for patrons. When the patreon page was just starting there were only one or two able to make the streams so instead of just requesting over and over they'd put in requests for other people present at the stream. They were awesome for that and it was agreed that the streams would be available to the public but patrons retain priority. It became a sort of "THANK YOU" to those who support PRS and the discord community. I enjoy doing this cause the moral support means just as much to me as the monetary support.

However, in recent months I've noticed an increase of people who come almost exclusively to the request streams. So the rules were edited a bit to make it clear that regulars would be allowed to request. I haven't strictly enforced this because honestly, I didn't want to deal with the drama that would come up when I inevitably told people 'no.' As the number of regulars- and randoms- climb, so do the number of requests. What was once maybe 5-10 requests in a night started to increase until I was trying to fulfill a list of close to 20 requests- that's a lot for me and my bad shoulder to handle in one night. This was making me rush more than I'd have liked to make sure no one missed out.

Tonight, I cracked down on the rules. Only regulars were allowed to request if they were present. We had new faces show up tonight and were understanding about this. I REALLY appreciate it. Had I had the time, I would've tried to squeeze in one or two of them at the end (but alas, I had a movie stream scheduled right after). However we had some trouble with users who, while not new, could not be considered regulars because they only ever showed up for request streams. They threw a stink over the enforcement of the rule then left the stream (had they stayed the entire stream instead of throwing a fit, they'd be considered for the next request stream) and it was a little upsetting to say the least. Now I don't want to revert the request streams to be patron only (we've got enough patrons now for me to do that), but let me make something clear:

If you are showing up just for free art, get lost. You aren't welcome. These request streams are meant as a THANK YOU to those who take the time to participate with our little community on discord, streams, SJ, DA. Not for you entitled randoms who think because you commented once or twice in the last few months you deserve a free request. I make art because I like making other people happy- not because I have to. No one is entitled to get their request except the patrons who literally pay for it. I am party to blame for this since I allowed this to go on in past months. This will not be the case in future streams. If you only show up to request streams and don't partake in the community, then you will be denied a request. If people decide to continue throwing fits over what is considered a 'regular' and that they 'deserve' or have 'earned' a request, then I WILL make it so only patrons can request again. I won't even give them the power to allow others to request this time.

Sorry if this is a little bit of a rant. I just felt it needed to be said.

- Site Layout changes: I plan on overhauling the site later on, but for now I've done some minor changes. I've removed the buffer/schedule since I don't update those anyway. I've changed all links in the links/support areas to images. I've updated the affiliates section to remove inactive or broken links as well as the inclusion of some new affiliates and links to other comics I'm a part of.

- If you want to affiliate, please drop me a message including the banner image I should use. You must first put the PRS affiliate button somewhere on your site before I add yours.

- New: Ko-fi. Basically a tip jar for those who don't want to commit to patreon or buy stuff off redbubble or etsy.

- PRS Return date: Looking at a tentative May 11th return. Patreon sneaks will be beginning soon.

- Tapas: I've had a Tapas site for a while. It sometimes updates a little earlier than the SJ site. If you prefer Tapas, the link is there to the left of the PRS pages.

I think that's it for now.

Haha! I got y'all, didn't I? You all fell for my joke. =) You know- the one where I announce a very real project on April 1st just to see how many would think it's a joke. Well- it's not! PRSaga is actually going to be a thing! Here's some more details...

SJCover by Petuniabubbles
www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofi…

So, what is PRSaga? Well, in short- it's going to be a collection of one-shot comics based in the PRS world. When I first started PRS I had big plans, lots of characters, and a lot of ideas. However, as I've continued through PRS I realized my ideas were getting a bit much for a single story. Naya was hardly the main character and covering the backstories of other characters was making the main plot move in a pace so sluggish a snail could circle the earth before I'd finish the comic. I had to start making cuts. At first it was a few scenes here and there- like one where I had Miah trying to talk Cero out of doing something stupid or an extended battle in the temple where more than just Cero comes to the rescue. Then I started cutting more. Story arcs that I deemed non-essential to the plot. Character stories that would eat up too much time for too little payoff. The goal was to get PRS down to a length that wouldn't take me 20 years to complete.

It was no secret in the discord server that I was cutting things. A member of the server- Runesage- asked if anyone was interested in a collab project. He's a great friend and an active member of the discord server with a strong interest in writing. I took up the offer on the condition it was a short story- not a full blown project. We bounced ideas around and eventually settled on the idea of creating a one-shot about Reggie since he's one of the characters with a less solid backstory that wouldn't have made it into the main comic. Lots of ideas were bounced around and we now have a solid outline for a 22 page comic featuring Reggie and his first adventure. Why stop there? There are plenty of stories in the PRS world that won't fit in the main comic that could be told- so we decided on Pokemon Radiant Sagas (keeping that PRS acronym) to be a series of short stories featuring various cast members. These stories will all be considered canon to the PRS world but not essential reading to understand the main PRS story. They may however connect to the main story somehow.

Preemptive FAQs:

Q: When will PRSaga start/update?
- Unknown. We're currently in the scripting phase of the first story. Patrons will get exclusive concept art, WIP shots, etc. as we go through scripting and layouts. Once a suitable buffer of pages is made I will start posting pages on patreon for those of the $5+ tiers. These updates will take place on the bonus Tuesday updates instead of extra PRS updates when the comic is updating. Once the entire comic is complete the posts will begin to be put up for the public on a once a week basis.

Q: Why release on Patreon first?
- Imagine that you're a comic writer. Now imagine that every time you miss an update or take a break you get about 10 messages asking "When's the next page?!?!?!?!" Now picture how annoying that gets. Multiply that by two. It's bad enough being pestered over main PRS when missing an update that I'd rather have each story of PRSaga complete before beginning updates for it. I also sorta want to give the Patrons a special treat for their amazing support over the last two years. Without them I wouldn't even be considering working on another comic on top of PRS. Don't worry though- any and all comics will go public as soon as they're ready. I would never create a patreon-only comic. It'll just be less stressful for me not to worry as much about missed updates.

Q: Will this effect the main PRS comic production?
- Yes and no. The goal is to still have PRS update on a weekly basis when not on hiatus. PRS will only lose the bonus Tuesday patreon updates whenever PRSaga is updating. However, the main story will take priority over PRSaga. If I don't have time to complete a PRSaga page I will upload a PRS page on the Tuesday update. Hopefully I'll have enough of a buffer of both comics that this never becomes a problem.

Q: How long will each PRSaga story be and how many will there be?
- Each story will be no more than 22 pages. Right now, we only have a short based around Reggie planned. We'll focus on scripting out this one before we start brainstorming another. Right now I do not expect to have more than one of these a year.

Q: Will I need to read PRSaga to understand events in main PRS?
- No. The stories are canon and may be relevant to the main PRS plot, but anything incredibly relevant to the main PRS plot will be shown or explained in main PRS in some form or another. This is mostly an excuse for me to cover things that would not make it into the main comic for pacing reasons.

Q: Who is working on PRSaga?
- Runesage and myself. Both of us are brainstorming, outlining, and scripting the stories as a team. I will be in charge of all art stuff.

I will be doing a 5+ hour stream taking sketch requests. It will start between 6:20 and 7:00 central time and last until I die or get tired. Whichever happens first.

Request Stream Rules

Due to the increase of participants in the request streams, I will be more strict on who is allowed to request. If you are not a regular, only attend request streams, don't participate in the discord, or don't comment often on DA/SJ, you will not be allowed to request. I apologize, but there is an increasing number of people coming just to the request streams and nothing else. These streams are a 'Thank You!' to the people who take the time to post, donate, etc. - not a way for random people to get free art from me. If the regulars all get their one request in, THEN I will consider letting other people request.

- Submit your requests here: goo.gl/forms/RwNR6Dla7Zy12bcS2

- Failure to provided adequate details/reference will result in me skipping your request.

- Max one request per person.

- I have the right to refuse any request for any reason.

- If there are no more people on the list, we start over from the beginning!

*PXR people are counted as regulars cause they are faces I recognize and know. This rule is mostly for the DA posting since we've had people I've never seen in any form come in, request, then leave. It's annoying and takes away from those who have been supportive of PRS and my work.
