Eh, just look at my self portrait in anime and get you the idea of what I look like 80% of the time.

Oh yeah, you have.

Ah, thanks, I suppose I am pretty.

Oh and for things that bother you, the best way I get rid of stuff like that (it took 6 years of practice at the Post Office) is to think about something funny, like the Big Bang Theory or how my cat would react if I suddenly pulled the string, the way she wobbles her head around and then chases it. Stuff like that works sometimes.

Instant reluctance to the idea from me... I understand the concept, and it sounds really promising cus yeah, I think it's a good plan and there's a huge, valid point in the goal of the concept - namely that it may well be a foundation for a more open-hearted, less-bullying environment. But at the same time it's as easy to abuse as it is to follow (for example: use a photo that's not you at all).
Personally, I value the possibility to have a drawing as my avatar rather than my face, because I feel that otherwise I'm being judged by my looks rather than my talents. Plus I value my own anonymity, which allow me to be freer in how to act and speak, because I don't worry about how people will judge me. In essence, I can be a more socially outspoken and likable person because I feel that if I'm judged then it's on what I say, not how I look, and if that's the case then I'm judged on a relevant basis. Sadly, I've noticed with myself and others, looks and opinions are often combined in the prejudice that people with certain looks has certain opinions or behaves in a certain way.

Either way, I'm going to consider it, because I also know that the idea may well grow on me over time. In the meanwhile, I still salute those of you who go all in for it: it's a strong gesture.

You're right, someone can  use a photo that isn't themselves but it has a good foundation of openness and actually seeing each other (not that I've noticed much of a difference except that I miss my fairy).

Your reasoning behind not showing your face is kind of sad but sadly it can be true, it can be related to the fact I don't show my age on dA since people have used that to push me down my shoes (both by younger and older deviants) so I rather not flaunt my age to be judged solely on my art and what I have to say instead of "you're on [age], I'm so much more older than you..." which is such a bad argument in my book, instead of taking in what I have to say or maybe just ignore what I have to say but then based on what I actually said not my age.

You can also cut to only a part of your face, I know someone had like nose and eyes only and that was still accepted :aww: You do what you feel is best though, you should feel free and happy when you're here. For what it's worth I think you're pretty
