who has one ? well , easier to the point who doesnt ?

. . . me !

i deactivated my facebook - shockingly enough its almost a month now o_o ?? and to be honest im not DYING to get back quite yet ! much to the amazement of everyone around me lol i was one of those who 'updates every 5 seconds' and was ALWAYS on and sometimes creeping of course , ha i dont know , it was bittersweet having a facebook to be honest , towards the end when i really looked at it-YES it can be thought of as being a good way to keep in touch with people but really the whole thing is a bit attention seeking when you think about it . you write all about yourself , you upload photos of yourself , videos , tell the world what youre doing , who you know , what party youre going to . . its all very 'look at me' !
deviantart i dont ever tell too much about myself to just for the pure fact that i do like to keep things personal , and in that past while i just didnt want any attention ? ive been on the internet for so many years now that i was just feeling "you know what , i dont want to be looked at so in depth anymore" , i may get it back im not denying ! but im just putting it out there for those that may feel the same to try it ! your true friends have your phone number and you can always use skype or something but right now i feel liberated knowing that friends of friends of friends-that seen me in that club-that one time 2 years ago-when i was with that person i dont talk to anymore , cant see my face !
not many people i know have deviantart thankfully so my work can still stay up here virtually unnoticed to my general area . but seriously i spend my time doing actual THINGS with my day ! and when i meet friends we can proper catch up !
one day i will get it back . i know i will . but for my mind frame right now im choosing life over facebook .
let me know what you think . . . :]

you should check this vid [link] it kinda says what you did but in an other way :)
it's abaout a guy who had decided not to be on faceook anymore, but he doesn't speak he's just standing in the street with a lot of papers to tell what he thinks of fb and the people on it, funny in the little things he says :)

it sounds so good to actually do something other than just sit in front of computer the whole day.
but I've already admitted it to myself, I'm too addicted to facebook to actually stop using it. maybe i should try something that you've done, like a vacation from it.
but meeting friends in person is sooo much better than finding out what's going on on facebook. i hate it when i tell something that has happened to me or my friends and someone says "yeah, i saw that on facebook". but still i do it myself...
argh, somedays i just wish there was no facebook and people would TALK to each other in stead of stalking their statuses...

haha i definitely think its worth a try :D
but yes i miss the days of old forms of communication

Anything on the net is what you put into it. You choose how much or how little is there, facebook is nothing more than a tool. It's not a matter of facebook vs life, it's more about self editing.
petebritney's avatar
i agree but you imagine facebook without actually using it , its worthless , no matter how self editing you try and be your wall still becomes a diary of comments , nights and photos that you have had with those posting on it .

Yeah but if you edit your privacy settings correctly you can limit it so the only people that will see it are your friends. Presumably you're ok with them seeing it if they're the ones posting the pictures?

I was worried there, but life is more important. I myself need to loosing the hours spent on facebook.

Congratulations! I quit this spring, and I litterally had withdrawal symptoms :P That sucked. I realized how truly pathetic my life was! LOL

But after a while, it actually feels like a relief :) It's nice

I agree entirely. There is more to life than internet social networking sites. The novelty does wear off after a while.

I'm on here because I enjoy seeing other people's creative efforts. It's far more interesting than hearing about someone's latest bf or gf tiff.

Welcome to the real world, Pete.

the novelty has worn off social networking i think and perhaps not facebook? ive had DOZENS of different profiles over the past , what , 7 years ? and honestly , a few bad experiences fakes and stalkers with that .
i wanted to disappear for a while .

I have facebook. However, I've found that I don't spend all that much time there anymore. Between boxing and school there just isn't much time these days. I mostly use it for chatting with my foreign friends anyway. Other people I talk to IRL.
petebritney's avatar
but boxing and school are more likely to get you places which is good :) although boxing may get you to the hospital . . not so good ! haha

it's a fitness boxing class so we technically shouldn't be fighting at all :'D my friend and I take a few rounds every now and then though x] with proper equipment of course.
and you're right about it being important to go out and actually do something every now and then. there's people from 15-year-olds to over 70-year-olds in our boxing class and I can talk about everyday things with most of them there although we really don't have anything in common if you don't count boxing.
